Ten Thousand Bullets is coming out...only five or six years late...

Well I just saw this on Facebook, so I had to laugh a little bit.  Only five or six years after they first announced it, Ten Thousand Bullets looks like it might actually see the light of day. This was supposed to come out the same time as the D20 Modern version of Haven: City of Violence but it never did.  It seemed to enter Development Hell and that was the last I heard about it.  I was interested back then, but now it is just a interesting footnote in history to me of what NOT to do.  Talk to you later...

The Mercury Men and LPJ Design…

Garth happened to mention this in an update he did at his site and I was so interested in I decided to look up the writer / director Chris Preksta. After speaking to a few contacts I know, I got in touch with him directly as we spoke over the phone about his series, what it took to product it (not as expensive as I thought) and would they be interested in doing other material in various genres (which they are). What made this call even better was I found out most of the people who worked on this project are also RPG gamers. So I told him a little be about Haven: City of Violence and NeoExodus: A House Divided. It looks like we will be meeting up with each other mostly during San Diego Comic Con to meet face to face and see what happens. It is always good to meet with nice creative people who want to do cool things. I can’t wait to talk to him again.

PS: I almost forgot, Chris is also a great cartographer and we might even do a side project of e-tile for sale at RPGNow.com. Keep your fingers crossed. Talk to you later…

Blast from the past...

While searching for new artists I happened to find this. Now this is a little blast from the past because Barry Levine in the person who got Haven: City of Violence optioned to become a movie. Now we never got picked up as a movie or even a pilot, but I did learn me a lot about Hollywood and what goes on there. So, if you are free January 19 - 20 and happen to be in Singapore, you might wat to go and check him out and you might get someone interested in your ideas and project.

PS: Just one thing, make sure you lube yourself up enough so when they start screwing you over it doesn't hurt as much. Remember, blood can be a lubricant too. Understand what I am saying.

Expanding LPJ Design, Step 2.5

Well I am in inital talks with certain individuals to do a [CLASSIFIED] for Haven: City of Violence, Haven: Full Metal Zero and NeoExodus: A House Divided. This is not my first time into the arena of [CLASSIFIED]. The last time I attempted something like this I was dealing with Gary "Hive" Simpson (You might not know him, but here is a good example of him at work. What a Douche!) So unlike last itme I am going to be VERY CAREFUL and make sure everything is on the up and up beofre it gets to crazy. Wish me luck. Talk to you later...

Busy, busy, busy...Watching TV!

Well I just finished up watching season 6 of 24 and now I am off to watching the new Spike TV, drama (well it it is new to me) The Kill Point. Glad to see Spike TV is thinking about it future in the area of cable TV. With so many good "minor" networks with so many great show out there, this can only be helpful to gain more interest for them. Plus the show has four actors from The Wire on it, so I have to support it. After watch so much interesting stuff, I have been working on a few personal projects for Haven: Full Metal Zero. I am hoping to get these projects out by the end of the month. Just something nice to add to you D20 Modern espionage based games. Just wait it is coming. Talk to you later...

How watching 24 made me money...

I am currently watching season 6 of 24. I happened to miss half of it due to watching Heroes. That is the one thing that I really hate about TV without Tivo, you have to choose to pick what you are going to have to watch. 24 has been very good so far (I am about half way thru). The creators; Joel Surnow & Robert Cochran; have a great understanding of doing GREAT technothriller action. After creating and working on La Femme Nikita for 5 years they know what a great spy thriller should look and feel like. Plus this has really helped me with some ideas and projects I have been doing of late for Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets. It has been nice to work on this change, since from the last 6 or more months I have been working on NeoExodus: A House Divided. Modern action adventure is always my favorite genre to do. So when I get a chance to go back and do it I always jump at it. Watching all this 24 has not got me excite for Season 7. I can't wait to see it. Talk to you later...

What is going on...

As of late I have been working on several little projects to get ready for RPGnow.com. I have been working on materials for Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets that I or others have worked on but have been on hold for months due to the release of NeoExodus: A House Divided materials. The latest two release for the Haven: Full Metal Zero line have been Covert Ops Feats 3 and Verbal Diplomacy. I have been also working on 5 new urban based classes espionage classes that will work in both Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets. Plus there is some other more specific stuff that I am working on for both the setting.

Right now I am placing all the D20 Fantasy material including NeoExodus: A House Divided and Xao: Island of Iron and Silk on hold until we find out what is going on with 4e. I hate to place that work on hold, but I don't want to do a lot of work that will be useless in a year.

Plus something very interesting happened yesterday. I can't really say what is going on now, but I will let you know what is going when I can. Talk to you later...

Chuck Dixon likes me!!!!

For those who don't know, I am a HUGE Chuck Dixon fan. So much so the city of Haven in my RPG Haven: City of Violence is named after Bludhaven, the name of the city he created for his run on Nightwing. I normally see Chuck once a year at the MegaCon show in Orlando where we talk about writing, politics and what goes on behind the scenes at the big comic companies. Now thoses are GREAT stories. I have recently become a LinkedIn.com addict and have been adding contacts to my list. I happen to see Chuck name and I asked him to "join my friends". I was not sure he would remember me, but then I got this nice e-mail from him:

Hey! Of course I recall you. I'm always grateful when anyone wants to have an actual conversation at a con. It's so rare! Pleased to be a part of your group! Chuck

WOW!!!!! Chuck DIxon remembered me!!!! Now this has made my day. Talk to you later...

A Decade of Violence: 1997 to 2007

The year 2007 celebrates the 10th year anniversary of the creation of world of Haven: City of Violence for Louis Porter Jr. Design. Haven: COV started off as a spy & espionage based RPG called Point Blank, but due to the life changing words from Hero Games Mastermind, Steven Long; Haven: City of Violence was born. Over the last 10 years, the world of Haven has grown and expanded in to several different genres and setting that we plan from the beginning. With 2007, we continue with the growth and expansion of the world of Haven with these additional settings:

Haven: Full Metal Zero: The covert world of espionage in the Haven: City of Violence setting was lightly covered in the Haven: City of Violence Core Rulebook, but now with the introduction of Haven: Full Metal Zero line, we dig deeper into the spy & espionage genre in the world of Haven. The Haven: Full Metal Zero line will cover the histories of predominate covert agencies in the world of Haven including the Department of Federal Investigation, Special Operations and the enigmatic secret society of Prometheus. Fans of such television shows, video games and movies like 24, Splinter Cell, The Unit, Metal Gear Solid, Sleeper Cell, the Borne Identity and various other will be fans on our take of D20 Espionage. Right now, we have nearly 20 products for this line and plan to double most likely triple that amount by the end of 2007. The writing responsibilities for the Haven: Full Metal series will be handled by Misfit Studios & Kenzer and Company rising star, Ross Payton, and Misfit Studios alumni, David Caffee.

Victory: War of Bronze: While the Haven City of Bronze setting brought the genre of pulp to the world of Haven, Victory: War of Bronze brings in the rest of the world at war in perspective. Victory: War of Bronze focuses on Haven: City of Bronze’s Second Great Conflict, its own version of World War II. A combination of World War II and Pulp Superscince has created incredible mechanized armor and war machines that litter the war zones. This setting will open up the world of d20 World War II and Pulp Superscince to a level it has never been. The lead writer and developer on the Victory: War of Bronze line is handled by Pazio’s Dragon Magazine superstar writer, Joshua Cole.

Sanctuary: City of Secrets: The sequel to one of all time best selling D20 Modern setting, Sanctuary: City of Secrets was created with the concept of not to show you another decaying urban setting for D20 Modern like Haven: City of Violence where every is put out right in front of you, but show you the exact opposite of that. Sanctuary was created to show you a city that was built on secrets; some of them good, but most of them deadly covered by the beauty and shiny city. Unlike Haven, Sanctuary: City of Secrets exists on the west coast of the United States giving you that distinctly different feel and favor for Sanctuary then Haven. Fans of Haven will Like Sanctuary: City of Secrets as an add-on to their normal Haven: City of Violence game or a completely separate setting. In a step to make this D20 Modern setting different from many of its counterpart, the Sanctuary: City of Secrets Campaign Setting will be absolutely and completely for free, just like the Haven: City of Bronze Campaign Setting. The lead writer and developer on the Sanctuary: City of Secrets series is handled by Expeditious Retreat Press, Misfit Studios, Skortched Urf' Studios, Tabletop Adventures writer and Devil’s Workshop powerhouse, Christopher A Field.

Various D20 Modern Genres: We are also looking to tackle various literary genres from the American Revolutionary War and times to the Victorian Era to the U.S. Civil War and even the Cold War of the 1950s & 60s. We also mean to cover alternate history versions of these same time period and genre also. We are looking in covering all this time periods and genres using the D20 Modern rule system so fan who know how to D20 Modern can easily cross over to these games.

These setting and gaming lines are in addition to Louis Porter Jr Design already successful product lines including our D20 Futuristic Line, Polymecha; Our stock art series, Image Portfolio; and our classical D20 Literature Fantasy series, D20 Shakespeare. Even with all this going on we still have our TWO HUGE secret projects, codename Project X and Project Y, which we plan to announce to the world later this year. We plan for 2007 to be our greatest year as a company and expand Louis Porter Jr. Design to even greater company on the PDF scene. Thanks for all your support.
