Advertising returns with D20pfsrd for my Kickstarter...

Every time I do a kickstarter I like to find ways that I can get the best return for my dollar. D20pfsrd.com has been a winner for me over time. Real simple, I spent $400 to advertise on D20pfsrd.com and it generated $1,442. That was a 360.5% return on my investment OR for every $1, I spend I made $3.60. The top 5 place that people donated from: Direct traffic, Tabletop Games (Discover), D20pfsrd.com, Search and Advanced Discovery accounted for 66% of my total monies raised in my kickstarter with D20pfsrd being 10.36% of that. Here are some interesting things; Facebook generated 6.76% of the monies raised; Paizo.com generated 2.13% of the monies raised; My blog, lpj.blogspot.com generated 0.75% of the monies raised; Enworld.org generated 0.29% of the monies raised; Twitter generated 0.01% of the monies raised; the 48 hour remainer email generated 3.56% of the monies generated. Best piece of new the only two places I spend actual money on advertising was Facebook and D20pfsrd.com.

So once again, D20pfsrd.com has been proved to be a MONEY CASH COW for me in the advertising. If you are wondering if it is worth advertising just remember: $1 = $3.60. Just simple math. Talk to you later...

A great piece of inspiration from Owen KC Stephens...

Let it never be said that I wouldn't steal a good idea, especially from Owen KC Stephens and with that…

And with this membership push, if we reach our number by December 25th, we will make Secret Societies of NeoExodus: SectionOmega (PFRPG) (with path psionics game mechanics created by the one and only folks of Dreamscarred Press) permanently FREE!

Right now we are at 520 so that gives us over two months to gain 230 more likes, and if we go higher then we will add stretch goals.

So tell everyone you know about our page, spread the message of LPJ Design goodness, and let's see how high this can go!  Talk to you later...

Trying something different with ads AKA Hello Canada!

I am trying something different. Over at our Facebook page I am attempting to promote our page to reach 500 likes. We are very close to hitting that number so I wanted to find ways help move us along to that, so I decided to promote my page on Facebook. Not really that big of a deal. I have done this before and it has worked out OK, BUT this time I did something VERY different for me. I only am promoting our LPJ Design Facebook page in Canada. That is right. I did say it. CANADA!!!!! Why? I feel there are a fair number of Pathfinder gamers in Canada who have not been “exposed” to the awesomeness of LPJ Design. So now I am attempting to see if we can give our brothers and sisters from the area of the maple leaf some LPJ Design love. If you are in Canada, play Pathfinder and have not liked us on Facebook, NOW IS THE TIME!!!! So while I am waiting to all you fans to like us, I hope you will be sending me a care package with All Dressed Potato chips and some Tim Horton’s coffee and donuts. O Canada! Talk to you later…

Alice in Wonderland + Wizard of Oz + Obsidian Apocalypse = ???

I put this up at Facebook and Paizo, so it only made sense to put it here:

Here is a crazy adventure idea for Obsidian Apocalypse that I have been kicking around: Two girls with their armies battle it out for the control of a city. One is named Alice fell down a rabbit hole to get here; The other is named Dorothy who came via a tornado. And the PCs are in the middle trying to protect the city. Welcome to the Emerald Looking Glass Wars. What do you think?

How you know something is going to be good...

Here is something Jeff Lee posted at my facebook page:

Hey, Louis. I had a few hundred words left on my Codex:Torment manuscript, so I made a mythic goliath ironforged that's fueled by the souls of those it crushes in battle. Hope that's okay.

I wonder where we can go with this?  I guess where there will be some excitement. Talk to you later...

Transparent Agenda #006: Facebook is responsible for raising less than 2% of the money for this kickstarter

If you listen to Facebook they will tell you that they will help companies make money. Based on the stats I got from kickstarter, Facebook, to me, is a failure on that.  Personally, I have been suspect of the “great ads” on Facebook claims. But it is nice to have actual facts to back up what I thought.  We do a lot of posting on Facebook but it looks like there are better ways to reach people for kickstarter rather than Facebook. Very interesting when you look at the actual data of material and see what is really going on instead of guess blindly in the dark to boost up one’s ego.  Always checks the facts. It will be better for you in the long run.  Talk to you later…

We want you to “Like Us” on Facebook…

This is really simple and to the point but we want you to Like US on Facebook.  The simple, but true reason, is we want to know if we are giving you the content you want.  The real problem with RPG publishers and publishing is that we live in a “bubble” of sorts and we don’t know if our marketing plans or advertisements are really getting to you.  We do put ads in lots of place, but do you really read them? We think we know what are marketing is going to do, and people tell us they do, but we don’t really know.  So I have decided to just plainly come out and ask you to Like Us on Facebook.  This tells me without a hint of doubt that you actually like what we are doing and want to hear from us.  I like Facebook for the interconnectivity that it has. I like Facebook for the ease of passing more information from person to person on our plans and samples of our work.  I think we have done a good job of creating compelling content, and we want to you share it to others who might be interested in what we are doing. If you haven’t yet, I hope you take a second out to and go to Facebook and Like Us as soon as possible. Thanks again for your interest and support.  Talk to you later…

Armada: Expended Sea Combat and Rules Sourcebook is coming soon

Here is a little project I announced months ago on Facebook but I have been very quite on until now.  The main reason is I wanted to see what Paizo was doing with their just released Skull & Shackles Player Guide and thankfully enough I predicted right and now I can finish up the work I started on Armada: Expended Sea Combat and Rules Sourcebook. This is going to be a really great book to add to you adventure path experience just like Trade Routes: Expanded Caravan Rules worked. Help to spread the word of this upcoming product to all the Pathfinder fans out there who are going to play Skull & Shackles Adventure Path. Talk to you later...

LPJ Design Facebook membership drive and Obsidian Twilight Update

So I have decided that I am going to make the month of March the membership drive for the LPJ Design Facebook page. I know a lot of you who come to the blob site don't always make it over to our Facebook page which means you are missing out on some really cool stuff like original sketches and artwork, previews of upcoming products for example.  So take a second and head over to our Facebook page and "LIKE US" and be like all the cool kids in town.

I am also working on the update of Obsidian Twilight  which I am tentatively calling Obsidian Evolved. I have started on reworking the races and have completed the Exalted, Genesai, Infernals and Harrowed. They have been updated, slightly depowered in some case and brought more inline with Pathfinder racial constraints based on the upcoming Advanced Race Playtest and the Advanced Player's Guide.  Including finally giving Exalted the option to have wings if they want (what kind of angel hybrid doesn't have wings?) or a venomous bite attack for Infernals. This is going to be a lot of fun and I am thinking about doing something crazy like selling it to previous owner of Obsidian Twilight for $1 and the new Obsidian Evolved for only $5 for the first 30 days of sales. I am going to add new content including psionic rules set (based off of Dreamscarred Press' Psionics Unleashed) to make sure this feels perfectly like survival horror for Pathfinder done right.   I am planning on a October release just in time for Halloween.  Start saving your pennies be cause LPJ Design is very busy!  Talk to you later...

[LPJ Design] Free RPG Day NeoExodus Adventure for Pathfinder RPG

Inspired by the actions of Jon Brazer Enterprise, LPJ Design has decided to start a Kickstarter.com project in the hopes to release a free NeoExodus: A House Divided adventure for Free RPG Day to be distributed to retail locations. This adventure; written by the LPJ Design creative designer, JP Chapleau with artwork from NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Book artists including Bruno Miguel Martins Balixa, Juan Diego DIanderas, Yama Orce; will be an introduction adventure to the world of Exodus and the campaign setting of NeoExodus.

Our goal is to reach $1,000 in funding with this kickstarter project which will make it possible for us to provide one free adventure in each Free RPG Day box. But we have also included additional higher threshold goals if we reach, will increase the amount of free copies we giveaway and also other rewards to the patrons of this project. We are going to have various award levels starting as low as $1 with additional Special “Locked” Awards which be “unlocked” a to receive unique rewards including naming specific locations in the adventure and even naming the special NPCs in the adventure themselves. We are planning to start this kickstarter project at the end of December and having it run until the beginning of February. Head over to the LPJ Design blog from sneak previews, updates and a little behind the scenes of making this project successful. All those interested in learning more about this project, check out the LPJ Design Blog or like us on Facebook. Thank you for your interest and support on this project.

NeoExodus Chronicles: Debatable Actions -- Giving it away for free on Facebook

Here is something that was originally made for D20 Modern that I updated it for use with Pathfinder.  But I am now wondering if I am going to give this away for free as a beta version and get some feedback on this system we created.  I like this product and I think it could be a very well received product by Pathfinder fans.  But if I do release this, I am only going to release it as a link on our Facebook page.  Kind of a gift for the fans and people who support us.  I am big on supporting people who support us. I think it is important. Not just for the basic reason of doing right to people, it tells us we are doing good work here.  And that is all we are really trying to do, good work.  So join us on Facebook and you can get a free beta copy of Debatable Actions coming this weekend. It's just that simple.  Talk to you later...

Nothing really to talk about...except Facebook, Webcomics Weekly...

This has been a busy week on the personal life so I have not had a lot to say or focus on with this blog. But, I will do a little self pimping and ask you to join the Louis Porter Jr. Design Facebook page so you can learn some othering hat we don't put up here at our blog.  For example, yesterday I had a online development session with JP Chapleau of a new feat, Craft Magic Candle [Item Creation] and a new magic item, Magic Candles.  We had comments from Gary Ray of Black Diamond Games who go to give us input what he though.  All of these done in real time.  We will be doing more of that, so don't miss out. Also do yourself a favor and check out Webcomics.com and  Webcomics Weekly and listen to their (semi) weekly podcast of what is going on wiht the webcomic world, which has a lot of ideas that can be (and I have) used in the RPG PDF world.  Just some stuff to be helpful.  Talk to you later...
