You know, while I get, in part, what they think they're doing, I can't help but look at WotC like I'd look at someone who just doesn't get it.
Taking away something legally gained does not impact illegal misuse of the same, it is an impotent security blanket and nothing more. Criminals are criminals and will do things criminally, even if it means putting in a little extra work. It is just the nature of that beast, pure and simple, so instead of protecting themselves, Wizards of the Coast just look like the old man screaming at the kids on his lawn. Impotent and out of touch.
