Wayne Reynolds and the cover of Obsidian Twilight...

I was thinking about getting a REALLY good artist for the cover of Obsidian Twilight and then I thought may be I should get Wayne A. Reynolds to do it? I mean he is doing all that work for Paizo, WOTC, even new up-and-comer Rite Publishing is using him. So then I wonder...is he the right person for the cover. Then I think, maybe Jim Lee would be a good too. Time will only tell. Talk to you later...

  1. Mr Reynolds does have an eye for good illustration... that's so yummy I could eat it.

  2. Rite Publishiing will say that a WAR cover is cool. Remember though I got mine as part of my deal with Frank Carr the author of Jade Oath, who really paid for the cover himself long before I came along (Rite Publishing did not cover this cost wit the patronage project, the author got royalties, and has still not cleared its cost).

My personal feeling are as cool as it is, I could have got a cover that would have served as well for 1/5th the price and paid for all the interior art in the rest of the book (this would have covered it and given a nice royalty to the author).

Which is why the cover that Frank bought has been turned into 3 covers (The original is a wrap around) so we will get 4 books out of it over the next 4 years (If your going to dream, dream big.)

If I was to do this from the ground up I would have had someone like Ryan Barger (Adventurer's Vault) do the cover.
