How to do psychological horror based adventure material in a fantasy RPG setting…

So I am looking over stuff at TV Tropes and I keep thinking about doing a variation on the Cabin in the Woods for Obsidian Apocalypse. Obsidian Apocalypse is definitely survival horror, while Cabin in the Woods is torture porn. Is there some way to mix both of the concepts into a work able RPG fantasy based adventures? I have to say, this interest me about attempting something so crazy a difficult for RPGs. I mean horror is hard to pull off in RPG because the moods need to be right. Attempting some crazy cross between torture porn and psychological horror only makes it crazier and extremely difficult. There are SO MANY cool horror films I would LOVE to attempt as adventure (Hello Perfect Blue and Serial Experiments Lain I am talking to you) but how to do it right.  I might have to get additional input from others.  So what do you think: Is it possible to do psychological horror based adventure material in a fantasy RPG setting?  Let us know. Talk to you later…
