In Defiance of Sorcery - the low-magic/no-magic campaign toolkit for Pathfinder by Clinton Boomer coming soon

It all started with a little post by Clinton Boomer on his blog and with that a new product for LPJ Design was born. In Defiance of Sorcery: the low-magic/no-magic campaign toolkit for Pathfinder will let players play in the realm of literary traditions of sword-and-sorcery with this amazing toolkit. Even fans of the upcoming Primeval Thule Campaign Setting Kickstarter and their Primeval Thule Traveler's Guide will want to pick this up and add to their low-magic/no-magic campaigns. These striking stories and images of clashing action are the blood, muscles and bones of the In Defiance of Sorcery, it’s low fantasy the way it was meant to be played. Etched in your mind illustrations of artists such as Roy Krenkel and Frank Frazetta; and influenced by classic pulp fantasy stories such as Edgar Rice Burrough’s tales of savage worlds, Robert E. Howard’s Conan stories, and even H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. In Defiance of Sorcery will bring this all to life. Expect to see In Defiance of Sorcery by late August / early September. Talk to you later...

Working hard with JP on NeoExodus...

Over a week ago, JP Chapleau handed of the first draft of the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Book to me.  I have been reading it over making changes and explaining things in more detail of what I wanted to see it in and what I didn’t want to see.  The only thing that I had huge issue with above all others was the use of the monster from Monsters of NeoExodus: Caliban and making them a PC race. This was one of those things that I was not too sure about, but I trusted JP so I said OK and we went with it.  But now after reading them in the book, it didn’t make sense to me why we would use them in this way. Today, I spoke to JP about this issue in great length and detail. JP and I went back in forth on this each of us discussing why we thought they were needed the Nomadic Caliban as PCs and why not. Eventually all this discussion gave us an answer HOW we could add them to the setting and WHY it ties in to the setting so well.  So we are changing the concept of Nomadic Caliban into the Kalisans. There of course will be some changes with their background and game mechanics from this draft but this only helps make the NeoExodus setting better.  Teamwork, talking it out and smart thinking are the best ways to handle and problems and issues.  This book is going to be amazing.  Talk to you later…

Pulling the curtain back at LPJ Design and take a look at how we build worlds...

So I am sitting here looking at some old files and I cam across the outline for Xao: Island of Iron and Silk.  I have talked about Xao: Island of Iron and Silk in previous post and I have always wanted to go back to it to work on. The concept of doing Xao: Island of Iron and Silk was inpired by my love of the Shaw Brother Kung Fu movies I used to watch on Saturday afternoons from 3 to 5 PM.  Those were good times.  Xao: Island of Iron and Silk was a nice add-on to the NeoExodus: A House Divided universe.  We everything else going on in my life, I never really got it off of the ground, but a lot of the original outline and development was done for it.  So I decided that so many of you are interested in how I build campaign settings, I thought that this might be a good time to take a look at Xao: Island of Iron and Silk ouline that I created for a smaple of what it takes to create a campaign setting.  All the text in black is "finished" meaning I think this is the way I am planning for it to go; All the text in red is stuff that is still up in the air to be developed. Just click on this link and you can get a PDF copy to download and enjoy.

If I combine the Dark Sun and Ravenloft settings, I get...
