I just sent out the information and outline for the Actionand Plot Deck for Obsidian Apocalypse so expect to see the rough draft of it
very soon. Better still, the editor has
the “plague world” setting and is going over it while the third setting (Cthulhu-ese
on Abaddon AKA A Place Beyond Hell) while we are about to start Undead Apocalypse as the final setting
campaign. I think I can finally see the light at the end of this tunnel, and
this time it isn't a train coming at me.
Talk to you later…

63 Days into PaizoCon: Deciding on the books to take
I decided on having at least four to six books ready for PaizoCon. The four that I know we are bringing are: NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Book, Enemies of NeoExodus: Folding Circle, Enemies of NeoExodus: First Ones and A Place Beyond Hell. I need to do layout out on two of them to get them ready to send off to Lightning Source to get them printed and then shipped off to Paizo. I need to do this AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make sure everything is is done and ready. So for those who read this blog, when should be the last two books that we take to PaizoCon. Let us know what you think. Talk to you later...

What I thought was a niche, wasn't really a niche...
I was talking to Steve over at Rite Publishing about the whole Kickstarter concept basically trying to figure out what I have done wrong in the past to not get the kind of response I was looking for with my Kickstarter projects. In the middle of the conversiation he said something to me that was shocking and a little surprising, at least to me. I was taking about the attempt I had made at Kickstarter with Obsidian Twilight and I thought it was in the perfect niche to get funded. Steve said something that kind of took me back about Obsidian Twilight:
Me: I "thought" I had passion of Obsidian Twilight and it was niche enough, but that didn't do well. On kickstarter at least.
Steve: No to me. It was not niche. It took two mainstream ideas and put them together and Pathfinder to me is mainstream. Its also about catching the attention of the social networks and everything else.
What? Did Steve just say Obsidian Twilight was mainstream and NOT niche? WHAT? This comment shook me to my core. I never thought of Obsidian Twilight as mainstream, let alone thinking about Pathfinder as mainstream. They are both niche right? Wrong. They ARE mainstream. Now A Place Beyond Hell (our Post Apocalyptic Fantasy Cthulhu Survival Horror sourcebook for Pathfinder) is a REAL niche. After this little talk with Steve, I might have to rethink what I would consider niche is. Maybe more focus, a more narrow of a view is what I need. Kind of like from spotlight to flashlight now to a laser. Always more focused, always more intensity. Maybe one day we will go back a re-Kickstart Obsidian Twilight to add on all the stuff we wanted to and make it ever crazier than we did. Make it more focused and ramp up the intensity. Just somehting to think abotu the next time you are working on a project, is this niche enough? Talk to you later...

It's official, Lightning Source color books and I not built to work together...
I don’t understand why, but for some reason Lightning Source color print on demand (POD) books and LPJ Design are not meant to work together. I have NEVER had so many issues and problems working with a printer to get something printed. It is like they are doing this on purpose just to drive me crazy. I don’t understand this. I don’t have these issues with any other printers I have EVER used, but Lightning Sources seem to just want to be very special with their issues. I did have a lot of issues with the B&W books they eventually go everything worked out and copies of Obsidian Twilight and A Place Beyond Hell are racing to my doorstep so I can evaluated them and start selling them to customers. Soon. Very soon. Talk to you later...

[LPJ Design] A Place Beyond Hell available in Print (On Demand)
With the magic of Lulu.com, A Place Beyond Hell is now available in print on demend. If you enjoyed Obsidian Twilight, and wanted more material to add to your local game, then this is the sourcebook for you. Here is the full write up of A Place Beyond Hell:
A dark star fell from the sky bringing with it the end of all things! The sanctity of the world known as Abaddon was shattered when a global apocalyptic event of a meteor impacting the planet causing a destructive ecological and eldritch change. But what really was the meteor that hit the planet of Abaddon. The H’Laqu were not present on Abaddon until the disaster happened. They came with it, were the progenitors of it, were part of the meteor itself. They were – and are – the engineers of Abaddon’s destruction. Now they’re found, increasingly, all over the world. Insinuating themselves into air, stone, flesh and plants, subverting and spreading, wandering far and wide and engaging in strange and unnatural behaviours that nobody can understand. They’re not of this world, not of this dimension, not of this reality in any way. Inscrutable, inimical to the very existence of this world, perhaps even insane, the H’Laqu are a growing presence, a growing influence and a growing concern to all the forces at work across Abaddon. A threat that can’t be understood, controlled or even directed, beyond the schemes and plans of man and undead alike. Inside this book you will find you’ll need to embark on adventures using A Place Beyond Hell sourcebook including:

[Never to See the Light of Day] A Place Beyond Hell
I have decided to start a second weekly series on Tuesday here at “In The Mind of a Mad Man”, called Never to See the Light of Day. Basically in this series I will tell you about a lot of crazy gaming ideas and product that I thought about but never went anywhere for whatever reason. Hope you enjoy.
The first Never to See the Light of Day post I wanted to start with was the incredible idea and setting that I came up with called A Place Beyond Hell. This was a crazy d20 Fantasy mash-up that I came up with while drinking too much on a weekend. The tagline I created for it that explained what I wanted to do was, “Undead Nazi Elves!” UNDEAD NAZI ELVES!!!! Talk about a mash-up! Imagine World War II fought in a Fantasy where the Elves & Half Elves play the role of the Nazis and Axis; Dwarves, Gnomes & Halflings play the role of the Allies; and the Humans and Half Orcs play the rule of Jews. A Place Beyond Hell is influenced by WWII, Jim Jones, Animal Farm and the US Civil War.
Hundreds of years ago, the Elves are slaves and subjugated by the other races in the world, until a lone elf Solien (Think of a mix of Adolf Hitler and John Connor) teaches the Elves to rebel and raise an army. The Elves over time begin warring over the other races, winning battles, start taking place lands and taking control of the world. The Elves & Half Elves have taken over 85% of the world and the Allies have only one stronghold left, a small group of island mountain ranges called the Iron Hills. It is the only place that is not under control of the Elves & Half Elves. And like all those that are oppressed and overcome their oppression, they became oppressors themselves. Human and Half-Orcs are slaves in the setting (Think Slavery in the US before the Civil War) and considered to be property. There is a standing law that any Humans and Half-Orcs who are found in the open and not with their masters can be killed on sight. Solien, who by this point has gone insane and become some type of demagogue, has convinced a large majority of the Elves and Half-Elves that becoming immortal in the form of undead is the natural evolutionary course for his people to keep control and many agree. Solien becomes a Lich and then Emperor of the world.
…And this is where the players enter the setting due to a dimensional travel error. Hope this work out for you….
Some of these ideas eventually became placed in Obsidian Twilight, but A Place Beyond Hell most likely will never see the light of day. Talk to you later...
