Cross of Fire Saga – No Drow Allowed

When I first created the idea for doing the Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path for the Ravenloft setting (I planned to submit it to Dungeon Magazine), the monsters I planned to use where Mind Flayers, Drow and Githyanki. Flash forward to NOW and I have replaced the Mind Flayers with Phrenic Scourge and the Githyanki with the Kaylethon. But the Drow I have been working on to fin the right monster to replace them. A few I thought of were the Neogi from Spelljammer or Exodites from NeoExodus, but nothing has made me super excited. So here I am stuck with no replacement. Maybe something will come up or maybe someone will suggest something. Time will see. Talk to you later…

While NeoExodus simmers, I go back to Pirates of the Bronze Sky

For those who did know, Pirates of the Bronze Sky's rough first draft has been completed for nearly a month now.  It is a solid rough draft and while I am still going through it, I know this one is going to be a success.  One small change I have made with the look and feel is to increase the amount of steampunk visual elements that the setting.  I think this setting will be a great way to add the "steampunkiness" to a setting that already oozing that kind of coolness.  With this being a Eberron and Spelljammer mash-up, I think this will only help really define and redefine what we are doing.

So I am starting to look for cover artist on this project.  As I said before, I would love to do a computer generated and hand drawn image for the cover. But the real issue is finding 1 or 2 artist would could work together like that.  I don't know of any who have done anything like that in the RPG industry.  But who ever I use, the cover will be BAD ASS. I know some of you are tried off looking at the Boob Pirate (Hi to all our friends at Go make me a sandwich! I know you how much you love this cover!) so we will have to find something more interesting for the cover.  Maybe we could get some like Kendrick Lim or Michel Ivan or Chen Wei or even Ben Wootten.  Guess we'll keep looking, until then it's Boob Pirate!!!!  Talk to you later...

[LPJ Design] Chris Field hired as Project Developer on Pirates of the Bronze Sky

While I mentioned this on the Paizo forums, I thought it might be smart of me to make this completely official here. I have hired Chris Field to handle the complete project development of the upcoming Eberron / Spelljammer steampunk / steampulp inspired Pathfinder Roleplaying Game setting, Pirates of the Bronze Sky.  I have work with Chris for years and I know he is the perfect person to work on this project.  So expect to see a few thing for this coming up in the VERY near future...

Coming Soon: Pirates of the Bronze Sky & 4-Armed Scottish Rhino-men

Just so you know, the next thing I am working on AFTER Obsidian Twilight is completed and finished is my Eberron & Spelljammer inspired mash-up, Pirates of the Bronze Sky. And yes, that is a four-armed Scottish Rhino-man (the race are called Kaylethon) and they are the engineers of the setting.  See what happens when I don' get a lot of sleep. I think this might be the project I work with Gareth on. Eberron plus Spelljammers equals…

I mentioned this in a Twitter post so I thought I might talk about it here. I have been mashing up ideas, genres and setting of late. Just a little exercise that I have come to do that helps me strengthen my creative muscles. So I thought it might be cool if you see the latest mash-up collection I have put together:

Eberron + Spelljammer = Pirates of the Bronze Sky

Straying from the “standard' Western European flavor used in many other OGL settings Pirates of the Bronze Sky takes place in a setting based in "Bronze Sky", a fantasy version of a world of pulp action and fantasy noir, where the inhabitants make extensive use of magic in place of technology to create special flying sailing ships. Fantasy versions of zeppelin, sky pirates, airships, and even mechanical men called Bronze Men are common in place of traditional knights in shining armor.
