Wonder what the Conflict Dragons will look like? Ask Juan Diego Dianderas...

Juan Diego Dianderas is the artist who will be doing the artwork on the upcoming Conflict Dragons for NeoExodus. If the name doesn't sound familiar maybe the artwork will. Juan did the artwork for the Psionic Bestiary Psionic Dragons for Dreamscrarred Press. I have worked with Juan on several pieces of artwork for LPJ Design and specifically NeoExodus, so I knew he was the one I wanted to do with this project. I gave home a LOT of source image to help with the look I wanted to create. And now that we reached out goal, I can't wait to see what he does artistically speaking. Dragons that don't look like dragons you have typically seen.  This is going to be fun! And if you want to see more interested and cool things from this kickstarter, then do us a favor and support this kickstarter. As always, thanks for your support.

$2,000 Threshold Goal – New Iconic Aegis from Dreamscarred Press

Before I started this kickstarter, I sent out messages to several of the 3PP that I knew asking them for help on some threshold goals I wanted to do. One of the first to respond was Dreamscarred Press. LPJ Design and Dreamscarred Press has had a LONG relationship with NeoExodus going back to the Secret Societies of NeoExodus: Section Omega source book which they were kind enough to write for us. So it only made sense to see if they would do us another favor and do an iconic class for NeoExodus. One of my favorite classes from Dreamscarred Press was that of the Aegis.

And with that I wanted a version for NeoExodus. So after a few message back and forth we all agreed. So when we reach our goal of $2,000 we will unlock this this threshold goal. Help us make this dream come true with your support of this kickstarter!

Paizo VS Dreamscarred Press – Who will rule psionics / psychic magic?

This weekend during Gen Con I was informed by the folks over at Know Direction facebook page, that Paizo will be doing a product called Occult Adventures which will have in it (drum roll please!) Psychic Magic!!! As they said in the post: One of the phrases used was “Less Professor X, More Penny Dreadful.” The first thing I thought about it was, Is Paizo going after Dreamscarred Press market? Is Dreamscarred Press about to be on the wrong side of a war with Paizo? Will one system for psionics rule Pathfinder? These questions just get bigger and bigger!!!

Now maybe with other companies this might have meant the death knell for Dreamscarred Press, but I have heard from a VERY GOOD source that they folks over at Paizo came over and talked to the people at Dreamscarred Press about what was going on with their psychic magic. Better still it looks like Paizo psychic magic will fall in line with an arcane and divine magic built system. So now it looks like there will be TWO completely different, completely supported psionic / psychic magic based systems available for those who like psionics. If you like how psionic has worked from 3.5 to Pathfinder you have Dreamscarred Press; if you wish you could have psychic magic work like traditional magic, you have Paizo.  Maybe some other will do a mash up of both. Get it the way YOU want to use it and that sounds like a good idea to me.  So there is no Paizo VS Dreamscarred Press. Better still for fans who have been supporting psionics, this give you the opportunity to add even more psychic magic content to your already done psionic material. For example, we will be doing an update with the OGL psychic magic material for our NeoExodus Chronicles: Psionic Cavian ---. I mean who doesn’t like MORE content?

Once again, Paizo shows why they are beloved by their fan base and the 3PP want to work with them.  That make it easy AND worth it to work with them. Talk to you later…

Transparency Agenda #30: Examining Top 10 3PP Sales on Paizo.com

So I started doing some research on looking at the sales data that Paizo.com provides each week in their email and I noticed some interesting things.  First off, I compared each week of sales from July 26 until last week’s email on September 6. Over those seven week there were a total of 70 possible different products in the weekly top 10 listing.  The following is a list of 3PP and how many products they had in the top 10 over this 7 week period (In alphabetic order):

Now looking at this list, I am sure you already will have some preconceived ideas and concepts of who the most successful companies in 3PP at Paizo. On products alone, Super Genius Games, Legendary Games and Kobold Press have count for over 65% of the products on this list. While this is very impressive the really interesting part is looking over these numbers over time.

Starting with July 26th the top ten consist of:
  • Dreamscarred Press – 1 product
  • Kobold Press – 3 products
  • Legendary Games – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 products
  • Super Genius Games – 3 products
  • Zombie Sky Press – 1 product

August 2nd the top ten consist of:
  • Dreamscarred Press – 1 product
  • Kobold Press – 1 product
  • Legendary Games – 1 product
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 4 products
  • Zombie Sky Press – 1 product

August 9th the top ten consist of:
  • Dreamscarred Press – 1 products
  • Kobold Press – 2 products
  • Legendary Games – 1 product
  • Necromancers of the Northwest – 1 product
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 3 products

August 16th the top ten consist of:
  • Kobold Press – 2 products
  • Legendary Games – 2 products
  • Minotaur Games – 1 product
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 3 products

August 23rd the top ten consist of:
  • Kobold Press – 2 products
  • Legendary Games – 3 products
  • Minotaur Games – 1 product
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 2 products

August 30th the top ten consist of:
  • Kobold Press – 1 product
  • Legendary Games – 4 products
  • Minotaur Games – 2 products
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Rite Publishing – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 1 product

September 6th the top ten consist of:
  • Kobold Press – 1 product
  • Legendary Games – 5 products
  • Minotaur Games – 1 product
  • Pathfinder Paper Minis – 1 product
  • Super Genius Games – 2 products

Now if you have been paying attention looking over these charts did you notices a few things about 3PP. Let’s take these one at a time:
  1. Over time it looks like the many of the established 3PP (Super Genius Games and Kobold Press) are being out sold by the new 3PP company (Legendary Games).
  2. Minotaur Games, Pathfinder Paper Mini and Rite Publishing each seem on average to have a steady sell rate of 1 product in the top 10 each of the 7 weeks.
  3. There are normally an average of 6 different companies on the top 10 list but last week there were only 5 companies listed.
  4. Looking at how products actually sale (using Super Genius Games’ products and sales ranks), the initial week the product comes out there is great interest. But only after two or three week interest fades as new product is released.
  5. Based on Legendary Games sales cross promotion of product with other related Paizo specific does promote sales as does products that can be cross promoted with each other’s like Super Genius Games’ Talented line products .
  6. Minotaur Games is the only one man shop 3PP who made this list. The effect of being a great game designer AND an access to Paizo’s “aura of influence” as an employee can affect your sales directly.
  7. Even though Legendary Games PDF products have a price point of $9.99, customers seem not to be phased by it and still purchase in large numbers.

What do think about this? What gets you interested in buying a products? Tell me what you think! Talk to you later…

Well we go a lot of great news going on here including a big announcement for possibly Friday. Also spoke to a few people on some very cool ideas and how they will be able to help out on the upcoming Empire of Tears Kickstarter. In addition Jeff has started working on the long waited Enemies of NeoExodus: Cyrix (see image below) and you Pathfinder RPG by Paizo fans are going to find out what it really means to be a hero. So much great stuff going on. Talk to you later...

Dreamscarred Press gets added to the threshold rewards!

With less that a week left week in our Free RPG Day 2013 NeoExodus Adventure for Pathfinder RPG Kickstarter, we have added the last of our threshold goals with the addition of Dreamscarred Press's Jeremy Smith including a sub-dungeon level to this adventure. I wonder what kind of psionic terrors he can add to this adventure. I guess we will find out when we reach this threshold goal. Here we come $9,250!!!!

Moving in many directions at the same time…

Right now I feel that I am busier than ever. I have to start writing work on the Obsidian Apocalypse project and keep everything moving along in the realm of NeoExodus Legacies, plus I am focusing on the upcoming NeoExodus webcomic, Grand Theft Exodus. I have to still talk to people about starting our independent fiction publishing line tentatively called Hard Ink and getting that off the ground. In addition, start working on the development of the new free adventure for Dreamscarred Press’ Kickstarter and start planning our next kickstarter project for Spring of 2013 for Free RPG Day. I am a busy publisher. Sometime I feel that I am TOO busy with so many projects but I am glad to be working with such organized people that help me do what I need to do much easier.  This is the part of business that I really enjoy, the chaos of it all.  But the long term payoff is something that will be MORE than worth it, and for that I am very happy. So let me get back to work for me. Thanks for giving me a moment to vent and get my feeling out.  Talk to you later…

Just finished four of the upcoming subscription series Treasures of NeoExodus: Judgement Seeker, Ichor Sting, Malice Blade and Omen Blade. Pathfinder  fans now get great equipment with interesting histories attached to them to make them more personal to them. Example, if you like Dreamscarred Press psionics in your Pathfinder Roleplaying Game session, then the Malice Blade is exactly what you are looking for. Expect to see the 10 part subscription to Treasures of NeoExodus available some time in early August available at DriveThruRPG.com and Paizo.

Business meeting with JP and Jonathan and you can guess how that went...

Had a Skype meeting with JP Chapleau & Jonathan Matthew Palmer. Talked over NeoExodus: A House Divided plans, which may include an adventure where we might be using Dreamscarred Press Psionic rules for. Plus we talked about our future plans including a definite partnership with two very well know 3PP of Pathfinder RPG by Paizo and one 3PP that is in the process of developing to something good. Plus I pitched my Headhunter class to them, and as expected JP started screaming. I guess I am on the right road then. Talk to you later...

LPJ Design Facebook membership drive and Obsidian Twilight Update

So I have decided that I am going to make the month of March the membership drive for the LPJ Design Facebook page. I know a lot of you who come to the blob site don't always make it over to our Facebook page which means you are missing out on some really cool stuff like original sketches and artwork, previews of upcoming products for example.  So take a second and head over to our Facebook page and "LIKE US" and be like all the cool kids in town.

I am also working on the update of Obsidian Twilight  which I am tentatively calling Obsidian Evolved. I have started on reworking the races and have completed the Exalted, Genesai, Infernals and Harrowed. They have been updated, slightly depowered in some case and brought more inline with Pathfinder racial constraints based on the upcoming Advanced Race Playtest and the Advanced Player's Guide.  Including finally giving Exalted the option to have wings if they want (what kind of angel hybrid doesn't have wings?) or a venomous bite attack for Infernals. This is going to be a lot of fun and I am thinking about doing something crazy like selling it to previous owner of Obsidian Twilight for $1 and the new Obsidian Evolved for only $5 for the first 30 days of sales. I am going to add new content including psionic rules set (based off of Dreamscarred Press' Psionics Unleashed) to make sure this feels perfectly like survival horror for Pathfinder done right.   I am planning on a October release just in time for Halloween.  Start saving your pennies be cause LPJ Design is very busy!  Talk to you later...

Don't you wish you could get blank psionic cards for Pathfinder game...

So when Pathfinder was released many people asked about Psionic for the rules set and Paizo can in with the mind set that not one at the company championed the rules set so most likely it would not be covered. And with that in steps Dreamscarred Press. The had highly successfully supported psionics for 3.5 OGL so doing it for Pathfinder was a normal transition.  Dreamscarred Press released Psionics Unleashed as their start of support of Pathfinder and have continued on with several more products.  We LPJ Design have also supported them with the release of NeoExodus Chronicles: Psionic Cavian and Secret Societies of NeoExodus: Section Omega. So it was only natural to start supporting them with our PDF Ultimate Decks lines. So expect to see this and many more psionic based products on sale in the very near future to help our Pathfinder Psionic friends out there.  Talk to you later...
