Crisis of the World Eater cover ideas

When I was thinking of the Crisis of the World Eater campaign serial as a whole from a graphic design point of view, I knew i would have to dig deep to find the right cover concept to give the series the look I wanted. I went through my Pinterest account looking for something and after a while to find it. Now while this center image in all these images is for placement only, it does give you the idea of what you can expect on the final release.

So after looking at these images, who should we hire to recreate this piece for our Crisis of the World Eater Kickstarter? Please let us know. Thanks!

Image Portfolio gets a make over and new friends...

Just a little something I am working on. Updating our original Image Portfolio logo and getting it more in line with more product lines that are similar. Those looking to publish gaming materials have more options to make great looking products. Enjoy!

The artwork carries it all...

While the kickstarter has been going on, I am working on Chronicles of the Gatekeepers (Our multiverse based adventure multi-path by Michael McCarty) layout and I wanted to get inspired on a cover for the Adventure Alpha: To Save a Soul. So I went to my favorite out of business comic book company, CrossGen​ and Jim Cheung​ for something I could use. And this is what I got my creative juices flowing. Then for the Omega adventure, I stuck with Crossgen but I when with artist Yanick Paquette​, Negation cover #11.

But with all this going on, I still need a cover for the sidetreks that I could use multiples of times. And out of the blue can Ivan Reis​ cover from DC Comics​ JLA. All these will work well on helping the artist come up with the correct image to help make this series even more appealing. What do you think? Talk to you later...

One $250 level purchased, 19 more to go to go with the Cross of Fire Saga kickstarter

My personal favorite level of the Cross of Fire Saga kickstarter in the $250 level, because it give people the chance to help create one of the most interesting parts of the adventure, the artwork. Our artistic process is not just interesting, but it is a LOT of fun because it gives me a chance to look through and get new artwork for my Pinterest account. For those who have never done anything like this, check out all the cool artwork you like to look at and see what you like about it. Is it the coloring? Is it the composition? Is it the action going on in the piece? What makes you excited to see this image? I always start with comic book covers and pick ones I like a WHOLE lot for example Uncanny X-Men 141 is considered to be one o the greatest comic book covers ever created. Cross of Fire Cover inspirations from comic books covers...

So I have been thinking about what the final collect PDF of my upcoming Cross of Fire Saga will look like.  That is so like me, what is the cover going to look like BEFORE we even start the project. And I normally use comic books covers to help me decide what a cool looking cover should actually look like. So What I have focusing on has been Marvel Comic Thanos: The Infinity Guantlet. Is is exciting, interesting and impressive. Plus on top of all of that it was done by the world famous George Perez. I mean WHAT kind of cover could be better than a George Perez cover?

Countdown to NeoExodus: 7 Days...Cover Issue OR Cover Opportunity...

After nearly wait a month we just got the completed artwork for the cover.  We have been working from sketches of the artwork (which consisted of three characters on the front) to get a placement of where everything would be going, but today we got all the artwork in house and we noticed on little thing....

...With the three characters in color, the NeoExodus logo, Blue background stripe and little company icons on the front, it was WAY TOO CLUTTERED! I mean like a Nascar Race car covered in logos type of cluttered.  It was TOO much.  Way, WAY too much. So I had to take a step back and do what I thought would be best for this project. So I decided to go with only one character in the front of the cover, like we had done on all the other NeoExodus products. But then another little issue raised its head...

Which lone character would make the cover of the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Book?

After looking at the character designs originally submitted, we finally got it down to two choices for the cover. But then the next issue happened.  We could not decide which cover was the best one to use. We went around and around since we liked them both, but in the end we reached a stalemate. Now since we love our fans of NeoExodus and we love to get input from them, we here at LPJ Design decided to asked them to help us decided on the cover for NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Book.

Countdown to NeoExodus: 9 Days left...

The Cover of Pirates of the Bronze Sky inspired by a Red Star...

When I first started thinking about what I was going to do for the cover of the upcoming Pirates of the Bronze Sky, I went with the same mind set and format I always use to getting ideas with cover.  I went to comic books and with this I knew what comic book I wanted to inspire the image that I would want.  That was The Red Star by Image Comics and Archangel Studios.  The Red Star was created by Chris Gossett of Lucasfilms Ltd fame who I happened to meet years ago at MegaCon and have become "con friends" with him and several of the members of the studio including Snakebite and Paul Schrier of Power Rangers fame over the years. The Red Star was one of the most innovative comic books to come out in the early 2000s.  They did a combination of computer generated images and traditional artwork gave the comic a very unique look.  In addition, the look of the comic was that of what many have considered to be similar to Bryan Hitch's widescreen look of the Authority and The Ultimates comics.  

With the Pirates of the Bronze Sky cover, I am going to attempt to do computer generated images with hand drawn artwork.  I can't seem to remember or know of anyone who has done this with an RPG cover.  I might be mistaken but I can think of anyone. This is going to be a very interesting mix and will give the book a very unique look to the setting.  I like to do thinks artistically that many people are not doing and try things to have a very uniques look.  It is one of the things my company is known for and I want to keep pushing the boundaries of that.  Who will be doing the artwork?  Well due to my relationship with him, I expect Ean Moody to be the artist who will handle the computer generated artwork and I would like Alex G who did the majority of the artwork on Obsidian Twilight.  So no matter what, Pirates of the Bronze Sky is going to look slick.  Start saving your money.  Talk to you later...
