Cross of Fire Adventure Path for Obsidian Apocalypse goes Transparent!!!

So I have decided that I am going to make this newest adventure path for our Obsidian Apocalypse campaign called The Cross of Fire, a completely transparent event. I will be describing the process of what I do, how I do it, why we do it and other stuff that goes on while doing this adventure path. Giving all the Pathfinder fans a real peak behind the screen of what we have planned for this.  First off the bat, I have decided to have the amazing writer Christina Stiles take over as the lead writer of the project. I offered Christina two projects to choose from and I think she picked this one because I think it was because of the Drow and what we have planned for them.   

For those who don’t know, The Cross of Fire is an adventure path I thought up and created nearly two decades ago when I was planning to submit it to Dungeon Magazine.  The Cross of Fire was originally planned to be placed in Ravenloft in the area of Bluetspur. The basic of the adventure is the legend of the ultimate undead killing weapon called the Cross of Fire. The cross was supposedly lost/hidden in monastery in a city that was controlled by a colony of Githyanki; which was built on top of a VERY large sewer / underground system that was under the control of the Drow colony; in an area of Bluetspur which was under the control of the Mind Flayers.  Your adventuring group decided to take on this challenge and recover this ultimate undead killing weapon, because in Ravenloft you can understand why so many people would find this weapon useful. 

And that was the pitch that I told anyone and everyone and I told them one day I would create that adventure. Fast forward 20 years and here we are with this expanding to create the now The Cross of Fire Saga Adventure Path now set in Obsidian Apocalypse. Better still we’ve replaced some of the originally planned monsters due to IP issues (Thanks WOTC); so we have replaced the Mind Player with the Phrenic Scourge and we are working on creating on creating a whole new monster as the replacement for the Githyanki. This new monster is being inspired between American Indian and Japanese influences plus I am giving them a VERY distinct weapon with a COOL racial ability / effect, so it is going to be interesting.  

Here is the quick outline we have created and plan to get a more detailed version up here as soon as possible with more items fleshed out:

Cross of Fire AP Part 1 – XXXXXXX (No name for the adventure itself be we are working on it.)

1. Intro and Caravan Raid / Rescue
2. On the road to XXXXX
3. Outside of XXXXX
4. Getting Supplies for trip
5. On the road to the XXXXX Lands
6. Exploring the XXXXX Lands
7. Discovery of the XXXXX Tower
8. Dungeon Crawl the XXXXX tower
9. Epilogue / Tie into Part 2

And that is the general overview of what Cross of Fire Adventure Path is going to be but I am SURE there will be a lot of twist and turns from what the final released product becomes. One of the cooler reasons that we are doing this with transparency is we want to hear direct feedback from the fans of Pathfinder and let us know what we are doing right and wrong.

Reversal of Fortunes…Again

Well it looks like the only constant is change. So now it looks like writer supreme Christina Stiles WILL BE working on my dream magnum opus project Cross of Fire Saga.  Now I just have to send her an outline. More to come…

[LPJ Design] Announces the 1st ALL FEMALE written Adventure Path for Kickstarter, Empire of Tears

For all of you who were not at PaizoCon, you missed the little reveal/announcement that was made about out NEXT kickstarter, after we finish sending out our current two kickstarter; Free RPG Day 2013 & Obsidian Apocalypse. 

This new kickstarter named Empire of Tears will be coming in early 2014 and it will be our 1st ever adventure path for Pathfinder. What makes Empire of Tears so different from any other adventure path out there? Well first off it is going to be completely written by Female RPG writers. Christina Stiles is heading this one up as the project manager and we have several other well-known and respected female RPG writers in the industry who are "available for this project".  The Empire of Tears adventure Path will be easily to integrate into any generic, retail store run or homegrown Pathfinder campaign. This adventure path then takes your party on journeys to new and unique locations including the world of Exodus, campaign world for the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting.

We are also looking to do some threshold goals that we will be teaming up with other well know 3PPs to provide great add-ons, encounters and side treks tied to this adventure path and their own campaign worlds.

Expect to hear more about this kickstarter project in coming months.

Transparency Agenda #013: Warren Ellis, Transhumanism and Fantasy

The night the line was crossed...

I have been a coward and I have been playing is safe of what I have been creating and doing. That was until 3 minutes ago. Now I am going to share all my ideas, fear, desires and angers to the world in vivid high-def technicolor. Now the suffering begins. Remember you wanted this. You asked for this, even if you don't think you did.

First thing, blow Christina Stiles mind with want I want to do on this Kickstarter. I hope she is a Warren Ellis fan, because that is the starting point. Now I have to make a call...

More cool ideas for Empire of Tears Pathfiner Kickstarter…

So I am thinking about rewards for our upcoming Empire of Tears Kickstarter, and I know I want to do some add-on 8-page or even 16 page sidetrek adventures where you get to expand what we are planning. I think we could do about 4 to 6 of them that would tie into the adventure saga itself and introduce more cool stuff to this setting.  Think of them as DLC (Downloadable Content) for video game series like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Dragon Age.  Plus it give me an opportunity to add so really cool ideas I have been kicking around like the Min Tarac Sal (AKA Chaotic thoughts made flesh/real) and the Gatherers (inspired from Mass Effect’s Collector soldiers). Unique monster types that you would not normally see in a fantasy setting.  Just some more thoughts that Christina Stiles is going to have to help develop with this kickstarter.
