Next week... MegaCon

MegaCon is next week and this is going to be another great year of meeting artists and talking about the entertainment business.  My goal this year is to meet Chris Stevens of White Wolf’s Exhalted fame and get him to do the artwork for my webcoming, Suits.  I also plan to talk to Laura DePuy Martin again about digital coloring and pitch here my Alpha Flight script to see if she might be interested in working on it to pitch to Marvel.  Cross your fingers.  Talk to you later...

OK, now let's talk about MegaCon...

Well this MegaCon was a good / bad con. The wife and I went up on Saturday, and got there just in time for the writer's seminar of "How to write for comic companies". The panel consisted of Mark Waid, Tony Bedard, Barbara Kesel, Ron Marz, Chuck Dixon, and Chris Claremont. Basically, the first thing that come out of their collective mouths is, it is impossible to become a comic book writer no matter what you do. And they continue this theme for the next hour. To make is sound even worst, they also inform us that Marvel Comics, like DC Comics, will no longer be accepting "outisde" (AKA unknown writer) pitches any longer. So the process that discovered several of the most popular writers in the industry of all times, like Jim Shooter, will no longer be available. And from there, it just got worst. So my million to one shot of writing comics, has gone to a trillion to one. WOW! Welcome to the suck.

But I did have good coversations with Chuck Dixon and Tony Bedard. And Ron Marz was kind enough to RIP APART one of my scripts (my bottom still hurts). So all in all, it was a good / bad trip. Well, there is always next year. Talk to you later...

Here are some quick little photos from MegaCon that I forgot to post. Here is a a picture of myself and Laura DePuy Martin. Laura is considered to be one of the greatest comic book colorist of all time. She informed me that she is comig out with a book on teaching coloring, so I will guess I will be adding that to my books on coloring from HiFi Colors and the DC Comics Guide to Coloring and Lettering Comics by DC Comics. It has been a secret passion of mine to be a colorist on black and white artwork. And of course myself and Chuck Dixon. Enjoy! Talk to you later...

Comic Book Virgin

When I took my wife-to-be, Carla, to MegaCon last week, it was the first time she hard ever been to a comic book convention of any type, a comic book vrigin. (I had to keep her away from that comic and gaming related stuff nto to scare her off too soon!) All I am going to say is look at these pictures and you can tell what she was feeling.

Megacon: Greatest Show Ever...

I just got back with the future wife from MegaCon and there were some many crazy things going on at that show, but the real incredible moment was with Chuck Dixon. I brought two comic scripts I had been working on and he was kind enough to look them over and tell me what he though. He said the first script was really good and he suggested a few changes, but he said it was good enough to send to a submission editor at Marvel or DC. WOW!!!! Actually good enough to submit to DC or Marvel!!! That was huge!!!! Then it only got better...

I pitched him my second script, and he thought it was GREAT and then he gave me his DIRECT contact info and asked if I would be interested in working on this project together?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!?!?! Chuck Dixon wants to work with me on a comic book project?!?!?!??! I think my greatest childhood dream is coming true. I guess if everything works out well, you might be adding a new title to my name, Professional Comic Book writer. My head is still spinning. Another great MegaCon...

As usual, MegaCon was great this year. Sometime I hate living in South Florida and one of the reasons is that I do not get a chance to go to all the great comic book cons I could go to when I lived in Baltimore and growing up in CT. I really miss that sometimes. But MegaCon was a lot of fun. I got to speak to a lot of new and cool people including Chuck Dixon (My idol) and Brandon Peterson (Artist Supreme) about [CLASSIFIED]. They always have good stories to tell. I also meet a new and upcoming RPG Publisher, R&R Paper Game Productions. Like I said, I had a lot of fun. Can't wait until next year. Talk to you later.

Back from MegaCon!!!

I am TIRED and SUPER CHARGED with some new ideas from MegaCon. The con was alot of fun and very informative. Next year I am going to say in a hotel instead of driving up and then driving back the same day. I will tell you all the good stuff that happened, plus some of the really cool people that I met.
