Teaming up...

Right now, I am in the process of getting together with several other well known PDF and RPGNow publishers and teaming up to do speciality projects. The building of alliance is something that goes on in a limited amount in the RPG industry. Most companies don't work with each other for various reasons. But with the changes of 4e and now Paizo going 3P, I think now is the time it is better to start meeting new friends and working together for the betterment of us all.

There was a time in the RPG PDF industry where this was more of a common thing, but with the current "unstability", a lot a people are taking the "wait and see approach". Well I hate waiting when I don't have to, so that is the reason for me wanting to team up. Plus more importantly, the PDF market is in better condition then it has been a while. There are still dominate people in the market, but small companies can still make smart business moves and draw interest to their company. Plus if you are waiting until January 2009 so you can release your 4e product, or any products, I think you are going to get more competition then you ever thought was possible.

Now with this said, I think I am going to take my first official "attack" on 4e and the New WOTC. I think it will make a good product that people want to see, but best of all, it is so obvious I am surprised no one has done it yet. Well as soon as it is ready, I will release it to every one. Intelligence, Canada's version of the Wire, cancelled...

I love GOOD TV shows from Canada. Degrassi. The Collector. Hell even The Border. I don't know what it is, but I love to watch TV shows from Canada. One of the best I have seen in a while was Intelligence. It had the same type of vibe that that The Wire had, so you know I was interested and hooked. BUT of course like The Wire, while getting rave reviews from all over, not enough people were watching it. And with that Intelligence was cancelled. But now there is a rumor that Intelligence was not cancel for low viewership but "Hitting a little to close to home". I don't know if it is true, but I can only hope that Chris Haddock can get the show picked up by U.S. TV studios to make a American version of the show. The sad part is, that I will not be as good in the U.S., but I can only hope...

PS: Here is another piece of interesting BitTorrent News: CBC releases show on Bittorrent. CBC-TV first in North America to release prime-time show on BitTorrent. Could this be the first step in making BitTorrent the easy way to "watch TV"? Only time will tell. Talk to you later...

Photos from MegaCon

Here are some quick little photos from MegaCon that I forgot to post. Here is a a picture of myself and Laura DePuy Martin. Laura is considered to be one of the greatest comic book colorist of all time. She informed me that she is comig out with a book on teaching coloring, so I will guess I will be adding that to my books on coloring from HiFi Colors and the DC Comics Guide to Coloring and Lettering Comics by DC Comics. It has been a secret passion of mine to be a colorist on black and white artwork. And of course myself and Chuck Dixon. Enjoy! Talk to you later...

The complete Battlstar Galatica ... in 8 Minutes

Don't beleive me? Well check it out here!!!

Paizo changes the game...

I looks like WOTC has accidently created a new opponent for themselves. Paizo in a little statement made yesterday, has decided to stick with the 3.5 OGL license and support it with their upcoming Pathfinder Roleplaying Game which will have the 3.5 rules in a printed for that people can pick up after WOTC stops selling the 3.5 edition of the Player's Handbook, Monster Manual and Dungeon Master Guide. Best of all Paizo has hired Werecabbage writer superstar Nick Logue to be in charge of thier organized play campaign called Pathfinder Society.

What does this mean business-wise? Well you have a company that has the manpower, knowledge and fan base to create viable products for the 3.5 license, for those that are staying, on a regular basis and best of all due to their previous relationship with WOTC they had access to tons of marketing material from WOTC on how to reach WOTC customer base. But best of all, Paizo don't need to sell any where near the HIGH number WOTC has to sell for 4.0 to be a success. What happens of WOTC sell only 80% of the amount it plans to sell? Hell, even 10% loss of sales could be an issue for them. Just having 10% of WOTC market is a HUGE amount of money!!!! Do I think Paizo can do it? I don't know, but this is the right first step. Sidetrek Adventure Weekly 2: The Undead Chronicles

It "looks like" the second Sidetrek Adventure Weekly series will be starting In early April. Unlike the first one, there will be a subscription service for the series BEFORE we release the first adventure. But like with Paizo's Patherfinder and the Player's Guide they create for each of their 6 part Adventure Paths, we too will be putting out a "Player's Guide" for the Undead Chronicles. (Remember good ideas are worth stealing!) So as a tease, I am placing an image of the ad we are running to announce this new S.A.W. Hope you enjoy...

Split up my workload...

Right now I am splitting myself over the workload of LPJ Design, RPG Publisher and Louis Porter Jr. Freelance Comic Book Writer. LPJD is doing fine right now with the great work from Greg and the WereCabbages so I can focus on comic book work. I have a few scripts that I am finishing and getting ready to submit. Plus I am doing more research on my Comic Book Dream Project. And I still have everything going on with the wedding too. My life is a whirlwind of excitement right now. Talk to you later...

Megacon: Greatest Show Ever...

I just got back with the future wife from MegaCon and there were some many crazy things going on at that show, but the real incredible moment was with Chuck Dixon. I brought two comic scripts I had been working on and he was kind enough to look them over and tell me what he though. He said the first script was really good and he suggested a few changes, but he said it was good enough to send to a submission editor at Marvel or DC. WOW!!!! Actually good enough to submit to DC or Marvel!!! That was huge!!!! Then it only got better...

I pitched him my second script, and he thought it was GREAT and then he gave me his DIRECT contact info and asked if I would be interested in working on this project together?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!?!?! Chuck Dixon wants to work with me on a comic book project?!?!?!??! I think my greatest childhood dream is coming true. I guess if everything works out well, you might be adding a new title to my name, Professional Comic Book writer. My head is still spinning. I have the pics form the come that I will be placing some soon. Talk to you later.
