The greastest TV Show ever made...but people don't watch

It is very simple, The Wire. The sad part is most Americans will never see it. The reason being, it is TOO real. Hey, I lived in Baltimore from 1988 to 1993 and then 1996 to 1997. The Wire is so right on, it is TOO real. And that is the scary part. Season 5, its final season, will be coming on HBO January 6th, 2008. You should check it out. Talk to you later...

Christmas is over, back to work...

Well now that Christmas is over, we have to focus on the upcoming projects we have planned for 2008. While 2007 has been a great improvement over 2006, we are looking to expand is several different ways to raise LPJ Design into being in the Top 5 PDF companies. With our renewed business relationship with Paizo and e23, we fell that this will only help increase our over all sales. Also with this our expanding focus on Print On Demand materials with the use of Lulu will only help to raise awareness. On top of all this, our upcoming business partnership with Wolfgang Baur and Kobold Quarterly is going to open up all new avenues of success for us. So once again 2008 looks to be even busier for us. Changing the order...

While I am waiting for some projects to come in on Monsters Of NeoExodus, I was able to release Cerebral Assassin for all to see. I think this one will have people running. The monster is useful in any fantasy setting, but if you have the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting, you can understand where the idea of these monsters come from. Talk to you later...

My artist is better than yours...

What can I say, I know how to get the right artist to work with me. I love working with good artist who want to work. Good artists are not hard to find, but you have to work to get them. A lot of RPG publishers are lazy and want to feed off the work you do on getting artists. I know one in particular who wanted to use an artist who works with me, but they told them they would NEVER work with them. It AMAZES me some of the "lower" quality of artwork people are forced to accept because they don't want to look for good artists. I am glad that is not my problem. Talk to you later...

3 new monsters on deck...

I have 3 all new monsters for our Monsters of NeoExodus line we have started.; Caliban, Cerebral Assassin and Fleshweaver; that I hope we can release all of them by the end of this week. I think people will enjoy what we are doing with these monsters and what other ones we are planning to release like the upcoming Harvester of Sorrow. With all this going on, I hope we can also get the Enemies of NeoExodus series up and running. I think most people will enjoy this "slice" of NeoExodus. Most people are used to fighting and battle monsters, but not a group of incredible smart, cruel and violent villains who have a long term goal. This is going to be fun. Talk to you later...

Five Minutes of Aliens Vs Predator: Requim

See the first 5 minutes of Aliens Vs Predator: Requim right here!!! I like it. I think think my be some old fashioned kick ass action flick!

Geoff Johns does it right ... AGAIN!!!

It always amazes me how good a writer Geoff Johns is. He takes things that have become dry and borring and breathes life into them again and makes them AMAZING!!! The Final issue of the Green Lantern Corps / Sinetro Corps War just came out and it was PERFECT! The Story was perfect. The art was perfect and best of all, in this issue not only do they wrap up the whole event well, they also get you ready for the 2008 Summer Event, Darkest Night. It is amazing to see how DC Comics has returned to power doing great work like it was doing in the early and mid 1980s. A lot of writers should take a look at how Geoff Johns handles villains and use what he has done as a template for creating their own villains. He just gets it right. A lot a people are all about Joss Whedon (Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of his work. Can't wait to see Dollhouse), but Geoff Johns understands how to make the villain relate to you as a reader. New Artist ... maybe HELL YES!!!

Well the new artist sent ove the sample sketch drawing I assigned him and all I can say is, "HELL YES he is going to work out!" Can't wait to see the finished stuff.

New Artist ... maybe

I have been in talks with a new artist in the hopes to get him to work on NeoExodus: A House Divided and Xao: Island of Iron and Silk. He has a interesting art style and I think it will work out well. I have given him and new monster we are working on as a test to see if he will work out with us. He seems like a good fit and I hope it works out. I think keeping artists is WAY tougher than keeping writers. Once everyone hears about a good artist (Anthony Cournoyer for example) they all go after him. That is the one thing I really hate about RPG Publishing. Not many publishers go out looking for new artists, they see who you got and go after theat person and in turn the artist INCREASE the rate that artists charge because they are in demand. The increasing cost of labor on production. It is economic 101 all over again. Talk to you later...

[LPJDesign] Freelance Jobs offers for the 31 finalists of Paizo’s RPG Superstar™

We at Louis Porter Jr. Design understand the need for having a contest where you have 32 writers compete against each other to get down to the “last person standing” and declare them the winner. It is easy to understand the phrase, “There can be only one.” But, what about the other 31 finalists who didn’t make it and were not chosen? Should their dreams of being a published RPG game writer and developer be crushed and ended with this? Of course not! They have already shown all the skills needed to succeed as a writer in the RPG industry: determination, proficiency, skillfulness, the ability to take a chance, and best of all the fortitude to get the work done on time. And that is what Louis Porter Jr. Design is looking for in our RPG writers and developers.

So with that, we at Louis Porter Jr. Design are offering to each of the top 31 finalists who did not win Paizo’s RPG Superstar™ a paid freelance job with Louis Porter Jr. Design. For many of you wanting to break into the RPG industry, well this really is your big break. Best of all, these are PAID POSITIONS! Starting December 12th, we will be offering open freelance positions to 16 finalists who don’t make it past the 2nd Round, and this will continue each round until the winner is announced. So if you don’t make it to be the winner of this contest, but you know your work is good and you think people would want to see and play with it, contact Louis Porter Jr. Design at havengod [at] lpjdesign [dot] com and we will help your RPG writing dreams come true.

WGA STRIKE: A LOVE STORY

Here is a litte video from the WGA Strike that I thinkg you all should see. Enjoy!

Back to Xao...

Well over the last few weeks, I have been working on the outline for Xao: Island of Iron and Silk, and I have hired a few writers to help with the world building part of the setting. It has been nice doing this setting and focusing on the "Chinese / Indian / Southeast Asian" -ish element of it. I just amazes me how little information is available on this type of historical / fantasy type setting material compared to Japanese mythology and fantasy. I think the world is turning Japanese. I looks like we will be releasing a few classes and a new race for the setting some time by mid-January and most likely the setting will be released by February or March. So if you are a fan of NeoExodus: A House Divided then this will "plug-in" your game quite nicely.

May be after Xao: Island of Iron and Silk is completed maybe I will do my setting, A Place Beyond Hell. But who knows. Talk to you later...
