At the movies...

I went to go see The Kingdom and I really enjoed this movie. As of late I have been focausing watching Muslim based terrorist shows like Sleeper Cell and I think I have a better understanding of the Muslim extremist. These types of shows I also think translate very well into Modern and Espionage based RPG games and concepts. I hope to have some thing out very soon based off of this area of terrorist and politics. If you get a second go check it out.

PS: One of the scenes in the film that blows my mind not because the theme of the story or action but when walking into a building, there is a kid walking out wearing a NWA T-Shirt while another kid has jis hat to the side in typical b-boy fashion. Once again Hip-Hop takes over the world.

Also, I have dowload the full 3rd season of Regenesis and this show is a lot of fun. It is like CSI but focusing on the arena of biological and genetic technology and development. If you get a second check out Regenesis.

Winning in the RPG PDF Business 1.01

Since with the announcement of 4th Edition TOO many people have been asking me about starting their own RPG PDF business and what they can do to make it successful. I though about it and I was going to sen them to purchase my RPG Publishing Gauntlet episodes that you can get direct at RPGNow.com. But then I tought maybe I will save you a few bucks and just tell you what worked for me. But this time I am going to tell you all the real "DIRTY TRICKS" you can use to to gain market share and annoy people you would call your ARCHNEMESIS.

Now lets start off with the first tactic I use when scouting out to see what type of "defensive action" my ARCHNEMESIS can put to try to stop my advance. You ready ... here it is

1) Put out Product. Simple yes? Well trust me most people don't and can't do it. When I started this year I had 188 products available for sale. I now have 282 product for sale. 94 produst in 9 month. That is a little be less than 11 NEW products a month. Now if you can't release at least 2 product a month, then forget it. This business is not for you. Sorry that is the basic truth. With over 300 publishers at RPGNow.com, if each one just releast one product a year, you would still get buried in the mounds of new product. You need to stand out.

The easiest way to do it is by releasing NEW products. Games like anyone else in the world want to know what is the NEW big thing. Whatever it is and the morst opportunity you get to be known as the company that release NEW stuff, the more money you will make. If you are saying that you can't writer 2 big PDF a month, no one said you have to. One new Prestige / Advanced Class is normally 2,500 words in length which comes out to be 4 to 5 pages in layout length. You can sell something like that for $2 and be on the way to start building your RPG empire. So stop crying a get to work.

Remember: 2 products a month. Just do that and you will be a head of the game. Talk to you later...

Expanding LPJ Design, Step 1

With all the changes coming to 4th Edition of D20, I have decided now is the best time to think about and actually act on expanding the company; Louis Porter Jr. Design, into several new and different directions including Devil's Playground (Our PDF Board game division I have been working on) and Enemy One Entertainment (A secret to be announced later). I have been doing the PDF thing long enough to know that it is not going to last forever so now would be the time to expand into other profitable money making ventures. I would like to have a TOTAL GAMING EMPIRE that includes video games, computer games, toys and everything else. But to do that I have to expand into different areas. Looking at the future is very important in any business the problem is that most can't do that because they are working so hard just to stay afloat. So now is the time for me to change. Wish me luck. What I am watching: ReGenesis

Now that I have gotten my taste of biological viral apocalypse filled with Resident Evil: Extinction I have moved on to another new TV Show (Well it is new to me) that I have been hearing about but not gotten a chance to see; ReGenesis. I call it a "scaring you with science" kind of show. Even though I have only seen episode 1 & 2 of Season 3, I am very interested. Lots od cool ideas and concepts and with good logical modern day science that you can actually get your head around. It always amazes me living in the US about how many Good to Great Canadian TV shows that we can't seem to get in the US. Some Canadian shows have been lucky and leaked through like Degrassi, DaVinci's Inquest, Intellegence (Another new online I have been watching Online), The Collector but a lot never seem to make it here. The part that does not make any sense to me is that many of these shows like ReGenesis would do great on SciFi , but for some reason they don't have them on the network. They would rather spend their money on ANOTHER BAD made for SciFi movie, instead of getting a solid well done TV show that they can use to draw people to. I mean it seems simple to me, why not to them? Talk to you later...

Fun with Zombies...

Just saw Resident Evil: Extinction and as with the first two movies, I enjoyed this one as well. I never get tired of Zombie movies. There is something about the zombie that makes it a great 2nd or 3rd tier villain. It is the combination of their numbers of them, they have no mind, plus they eat us, knocking us off the top of the food chain heap, plus you can be come infected by them and turn into one of them. Everything about them is scary. The zombie is the hardest working monster in the movies today. Just look at al these Zombie movies and video games: 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Dead Rising, for example. It is good to know even though zombies are undead, they can still get work. Talk to you later...

5:30 AM and paying freelancers...

Always remember to pay your freelancers as soon as you get money to do so. It is a great way to make everyone happy in your relationship. Everything else can wait to get paid, EXCEPT your freelancers. If you are in business you are going to need them. Talk to you later...

Busy, busy, busy...Watching TV!

Well I just finished up watching season 6 of 24 and now I am off to watching the new Spike TV, drama (well it it is new to me) The Kill Point. Glad to see Spike TV is thinking about it future in the area of cable TV. With so many good "minor" networks with so many great show out there, this can only be helpful to gain more interest for them. Plus the show has four actors from The Wire on it, so I have to support it. After watch so much interesting stuff, I have been working on a few personal projects for Haven: Full Metal Zero. I am hoping to get these projects out by the end of the month. Just something nice to add to you D20 Modern espionage based games. Just wait it is coming. Talk to you later...

How watching 24 made me money...

I am currently watching season 6 of 24. I happened to miss half of it due to watching Heroes. That is the one thing that I really hate about TV without Tivo, you have to choose to pick what you are going to have to watch. 24 has been very good so far (I am about half way thru). The creators; Joel Surnow & Robert Cochran; have a great understanding of doing GREAT technothriller action. After creating and working on La Femme Nikita for 5 years they know what a great spy thriller should look and feel like. Plus this has really helped me with some ideas and projects I have been doing of late for Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets. It has been nice to work on this change, since from the last 6 or more months I have been working on NeoExodus: A House Divided. Modern action adventure is always my favorite genre to do. So when I get a chance to go back and do it I always jump at it. Watching all this 24 has not got me excite for Season 7. I can't wait to see it. Talk to you later...

What is going on...

As of late I have been working on several little projects to get ready for RPGnow.com. I have been working on materials for Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets that I or others have worked on but have been on hold for months due to the release of NeoExodus: A House Divided materials. The latest two release for the Haven: Full Metal Zero line have been Covert Ops Feats 3 and Verbal Diplomacy. I have been also working on 5 new urban based classes espionage classes that will work in both Haven: Full Metal Zero and Sanctuary: City of Secrets. Plus there is some other more specific stuff that I am working on for both the setting.

Right now I am placing all the D20 Fantasy material including NeoExodus: A House Divided and Xao: Island of Iron and Silk on hold until we find out what is going on with 4e. I hate to place that work on hold, but I don't want to do a lot of work that will be useless in a year.

Plus something very interesting happened yesterday. I can't really say what is going on now, but I will let you know what is going when I can. Talk to you later...

A Trailer Worth watching...

Finally a trailer for Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem. Be warned - this trailer is VERY gruesome and restricted for all the right reasons. Finally a way to make up for a "PG-13" Aliens / Predator movie. I mean what were they think the first time? Talk to you later...
