New TV Show, New Idea...

I love watching TV shows on the Internet. It gives me a chance to see all kinds of new and interesting shows that I would not normally get to see. Including this new TV show from BBC that I have just discovered named Jekyll. I am not going to tell you what the series is about, you can go to the link for that, but I will tell you watching it has inspired be with a cool idea for D20 / OGL adventures. Most adventures are very linear and are basically a drama. But what if you got to play an adventure and it was a psychological thriller / supernatural thriller instead. Increase the paranoia level to 11 and let people have at it. We attempted that with Cold Visitor and it turned out well. But what if we even when futher with it? Could we drive a party to go crazy? I think I will be talking to my writers about this one. Talk to you later...

Genie in the bottle, Part two...

Well now I have seen the pilots for Pushing Daisies, Chuck and the Bionic Woman. Some one tells me about them and then ... I see them. Now here is something I noticed about all these, 1) all of these programs that have a "high geek interest" potential and 2) they all got "released" the same week that San Diego Comic Comic Con is going on. Hmm... I wonder if that was a coincidence OR have the networks finally figured out if they do not get more interest in show they will not last past 3 - 6 episodes like Drive or my personal favorite, Firefly. Is Hollywood getting smater, maybe... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Reviews of the Shows: All three shows Pushing Daisies, Chuck and the Bionic Woman were very good. Pushing Daisies has a visual quaility that is BEAUTIFUL and a good story on top of that. I had a "ABC feel" to it and since in is going to be on ABC then they did the right thing. Chuck was funny and quirky so in TV terms that mean it will be cancelled in 3 episode. Had a CBS feel to it. Bionic Woman has fun to watch, PLUS some of the cast members of Battlestar Galatica on it so I guess they are going to push this as hard as Heroes last year. TV might actually be good to watch next year. Talk to you later...

Soon the circle will be complete...

The last of the major First Ones is almost done. This is an Exodite. Just waiting for the color. And if you think they are dark elves or drow because of the pointy ears, how wrong you are. Talk to you later...

Getting the Genie back in the bottle...

I just saw the first episode for Sarah Connor Chronicles roughly 6 month before it will appear on Fox TV in 2008. Apparently someone released the first episode on BitTorrent July 22. On July 23rd, a friend informed me of its existance and on July 24, I have seen the episode. Now after seeing it I must say I like it! Good idea with good fun action. Plus they picked the right people to act. And an old "cult sci-fi friend" appears in it too. (Don't want to ruin who it is. You will be glad I didn't!) But the scary part is, all of this took less then two days to do. TWO DAYS! I guess the statement, "information yearns to be free" is very true. After Napster starting this how are they going to "get the genie back in the bottle"? I think this is just the tip of the iceberg on what people are going to do. Music isn't music anymore and TV isn't TV. It is all information. It does not matter what you call it, the end result is the same. It is all information.

You can't stop the signal.

PS: The actress who plays Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) is the sames actress who played Queen Gorgo in 300. I didn't even know until I read here bio.

Returning to the Superhero Genre!!!

Well it had been a while but I have finally make steps to return to the genre of d20 & OGL Superheroes!!! A lot of people wondering what happened with me and a certain popular Superhero RPG, lets just say that they listened to the wrong person and they thought he would be very helpful to their future. But it seems he was so helpful to them that he had to go back to his old job due to his loss of roughly 60% of his sales in the PDF market. (Well that is what I heard it was, but who knows? The PDF market is a dangerous place, let me tell you.) So I have returend to the superhero genre with a modification an update of two former products (Power Assaulting & Power United) to create Super Power Team Ups!!! If you are looking to build a super hero or villain team that can work together, then this is the PDF for you. Best of all it is OGL and D20, so you can use it with the world most popular RPG rule set and should be compatible OGL and D20 Superhero genre systems on the market today. So enjoy!

Geek Alert: Ray Stevenson to Replace Thomas Jane in The Punisher 2

Go see here!

Another year, Another without San Diego Comic Con

I have been a comic book collector for over 25 years and I have been going to conventions (cons) since I was 18. I have been to the majority of the east cost comic cons but the one con that I have always wanted to go to but never been is the San Diego Comic Con. To put it simply, Comic Con is to comic book fans what Mecca is to the muslim faith. The great comic holy land. And once again for another year, I AM NOT GOING!!!! Nothing ever seems to work out right for me to go: money, timing, whatever. So this year like years past, I am going to miss the biggest event you can imaging. This does not make me happy. Talk to you later...

Spinning out of control...

Last night, I was out with very good friends of mine, a couple that I have known for a few years. They have been married for about 5 years and they are both very much in love with each other. They have always treated me with kindness and honesty.

Last night, she told me she cheated on her husband by sleeping with another man. She told me not to say anything. How do I look her husband in the face after knowing this? And people wonder why I am so cautious about getting married. Talk to you later...

Ask for one review and get TWO!!!

Here is a review of NeoExodus: World of Exodus (4 out of 5 stars). And we got another person who did a review for NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting (5 out of 5 stars). Go and check them out

Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes...

Here is another one of the newest First Ones to the NeoExodus: A House Divided setting. The Kobura are a subrace from the race of Sobeka, Like the Kroca. Read more about them here:

The smallest of the First Ones, Kobura are a subrace of Sobeka bred for scouting and foraging. These small snakemen range ahead of every First One army, preparing the ground for more powerful creatures and assisting them via ambushes and surprise attacks. Outside of First One service, Kobura are nomadic predators, less organized but hardly less dangerous than their soldierly brethren. Kobura have been bred for subservience for countless centuries - indeed, their race may have been magically created to serve the Khaynites. While this manifests itself as stolid obedience in the Kroca, in the Kobura it leads to obsequiousness. Unlike humanoid servants whose fawning is often directly proportionate to their disloyalty, most Kobura genuinely mean the compliments they heap upon their masters.

Death by Horse...

My friends in a local games killed a man by bringing a draft horse into a bar and kicking a NPC. The drafthorse "crit"ed and converted with a x4 mutlipier (Using Castle and Crusades). How many people have been kicked to death by a horse while in a bar? Talk to you later...

Lizard Men? They are not...

Reptile men are are a common sight in the realm of fantasy and with that I agree they are graeat as classic villains. With that I created the race the Sobeka. Now here is something that is a little interesting about them. There are TWO types of Sobeka. Here is the cover and information on the Races of First Ones: Kroca. This is the first one, the Kroca. Enjoy:

In the pre-human era, the soldiers of the First Ones were immense crocodilians, man-reptile hybrids with an insatiable hunger for humanoid flesh. These man-eaters, the Kroca subrace of the Sobeka, were slave-soldiers, but willingly sublimated themselves in return for more chances to catch and devour their favored prey. The modern Kroca are much like their ancestors - but centuries of selective breeding in the dark realm of the First Ones have fashioned them into truly perfect soldiers, unquestioning in their obedience and unrivalled in their might. When the First Ones explode back into the history of Exodus, the implacable Kroca march at the forefront of their armies.

Evil has a old face in NeoExodus

Here is one of the newest images from the upcoming Races of First Ones: Aneishi. Here is a little history of the Aneishi:

Though considered First Ones by the humanoids of Exodus and driven into exile with their masters, the Aneishi ally with the Exodites and the Brotherhood of Khayne only for the sake of mutual fears and hatreds. They are wild cards among the First Ones, a savage people neither slaves nor citizens of the dark demesne but vital to its success. Though the kobura subrace of sobeka were likely created in an attempt to obsolete the Aneishi, these spider-like humanoids remain indispensable to their allies.

The art came in! AND HOW!!!

Well I asked about art coming in and I got SIX images. Two from two new artists (The images you see here is from one of them; I am not using the other artists work) and 4 pieces in from my all new artist and someone I have wanted to work with for a while, RICK HERSHEY of Empty Room Studios fame. He has been working on the NeoExodus: A House Divided villains' the First Ones artwork for me. These are going to be GREAT! This is really getting fun now. Talk to you later...

Reviews from NeoExodus: Still waiting...

I am STILL waiting to read a review of the setting on RPGNow.com, I would like to read something. I know people like it, I think. I get e-mails about how much people like it, but no one has reviewed it yet. Well I guess I will have to keep waiting.

NeoExodus: Phase Phase Two

I have gone back to working on Phase Two of NeoExodus. Now we started working on several of the more distinct aspects of NeoExodus including the Destroyers (Our versions of Golems), Shiftships (Our versions of Flying Ships), Kaga (Our arcane version of the internet), Sanguine Covenant (Our versions of the Catholic Church) plus the other interesting things like the Phoenix Guard, the First One, and various others interesting individuals and groups. Plus now we get the adventure module storyline up and ready for all the fans. And after all that, we need to get the retail store versions ready, plus the special edition hard cover editions. Work, work, work. I like work.

Waiting for art...

In the publishing model, there is one that could easily drive me insane and that is waiting for artist to finish with artwork. I hate waiting for art. I love looking at it. I just hate waiting for it. My main artist on NeoExodus: A House Divided, Anthony Cournoyer, has been very popular of late and now is so busy with work that my work has been placed on the back curner for a while. On top of that they new artist that I hire to be the "fill-in" artist for Anthony (He did the cover of Khaynites) has also told me theat his schedule has become incredible busy and I would have to wait longer for my artwork.

So with this, I have placed up ads at several online artist hangout locations stating I need artist. I have received roughly 50+ artist respond, out of that I send resopnse letters to about 10 of them. I expect to hire may 1 or 2 of them. That is less that a 2% return. I have been very tempted of late to start hiring professional artist groups like A4Hire or Udon. They are VERY expensive, but the quality is worth it, just ask Paizo, AEG or White Wolf. God, I hate waiting for art...

More info on the Prestige Class Creation Cookbook

A little more FYI on the Prestige Class Creation Cookbook:We have stated out roughly 8 of the Prestige Classes in the DMG and SRD and they come to fall in line for the amount need to create Prestige Classes. So for all you who want to make sure this point system we have build does actually work, now here is your chance.

PS: Here a quote from an e-mail the writer sent me about the Prestige Class Creation Cookbook that I thought everyone should read:

"I also statted out 10 levels of cleric - it's worth more than any of the prestige classes in the DMG. I guess that's what they mean by CODzilla (cleric or druid)."

Everyone is at Origins EXCEPT me!

This has bee a very busy week for me with only ONE exception. Just about everyone I need to talk to is at Origins. Personally I think Origins is an OK show. The last time I went was a few years back, but it was more a "business show" then a "fun show". I am sad I have to miss it, but the reasons why are very valid. But, while every one is way I can work on the ONE THING that has been an issue since we started doing NeoExodus: A House Divided. Once this one is tackled then we can move on to the next bigger and better stage of plans for NeoExodus: A House Divided. That is going to be fun! Talk to you later...

Chuck Dixon likes me!!!!

For those who don't know, I am a HUGE Chuck Dixon fan. So much so the city of Haven in my RPG Haven: City of Violence is named after Bludhaven, the name of the city he created for his run on Nightwing. I normally see Chuck once a year at the MegaCon show in Orlando where we talk about writing, politics and what goes on behind the scenes at the big comic companies. Now thoses are GREAT stories. I have recently become a LinkedIn.com addict and have been adding contacts to my list. I happen to see Chuck name and I asked him to "join my friends". I was not sure he would remember me, but then I got this nice e-mail from him:

Hey! Of course I recall you. I'm always grateful when anyone wants to have an actual conversation at a con. It's so rare! Pleased to be a part of your group! Chuck

WOW!!!!! Chuck DIxon remembered me!!!! Now this has made my day. Talk to you later...

Psionics in NeoExodus

Sometimes it is funny what you miss. Just recently my good friends over at Paradigm Concepts just finished thier Psionic Unbound book and it got me thinking. You know we really don't talk about psionics all that much in our setting. We only really mention it in one class, the Imperial Jannissary. So I talked it over with one of the main creators on NeoExodus, and we both agreed this was a major oversight on our parts and needed to be fixed. And with that we can up with the Phoenix Guard. What is the Phoenix Guard? Well you will have to wait and see. Plus if we get the writer we want for this project it will be worth the wait. Talk to you later...

Prestige Class Creation Cookbook Status

Well I just announced this so let me tell you on the progress so far. I am about 60 - 70% done and plan to see it completed by Wednesday or Thursay of this week. I think I am going to send this one out to all the writers to hear their input on this one. I have to say Neal Bailey has really come through with this one. Can't wait to see this one online at RPGNow.com. Talk to you later...
