Going Back to Podcasting...

I have decided to go back to podcasting and the RPG Publishing Gauntlet. I think it was a good series plus there was a lot of informative info I was giving out. So today, I will start up with a very interesting topic of PDF publisher who have fallen from their previous heights. I just recently heard of a PDF publisher you just recently went back to work at his previous RPG company after losing rough 60% of his sales due to the changes at RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com. Now was that due to bad luck or bad planning. Well come an listen and find out. Talk to you later...

What Heroes, Jericho, Drive, Lost and NeoExodus have in common…

While watching the NBC show, Heroes and the new Fox television show Drive, I noticed something that has become a great revelation to me. NBC with Heroes, CBS with Jericho, Fox with Drive, and ABC with Lost have discovered the key to making a new TV show stick. So if you ever have wanted to work for Hollywood and make great shows, I am about to give you a leg up on everyone else and you will become known worldwide. Here is it:

If you every do a TV Series, always start in the middle of the story, then start telling from that point and fill in back story as you go while at the same time moving the story along.

That is it. That is what is going on with Heroes, Jericho, Drive, Lost and any “mainstream hit” correctly on the major networks. This is what all these shows are doing. They start you from a confused point, just like the main character so you can relate to them and what is going on and as the main character learns more, you learn more. So obvious, right? I am sure a lot of you missed this too? But then I though back to when was the first time I remember seeing this on TV and the first shows that came to me were The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and the Prisoner. They did this same thing and all these show were hits of their day. Hell even the greatest sci-fi show of all times, Babylon 5 did this. That is the “new” secret to do a great show.

And now I realize I did the same thing when I created NeoExodus, but I did it all by accident. Or did I know what I was doing deep down? Who knows? Just think about it for a second and tell me what story you could create with this new information. Talk to you later…

Sick this weekend..

I have been sick with a head cold all this weekend and continue on with being sick today. I just released Classes of NeoExodus: Imperial Apothecary so when you get a second support the cause of NeoExodus! Talk to you later...

Miniatures for NeoExodus

One of the things that I wanted to do when I started doing the who NeoExodus line and that was a miniature line. This is something I attempted in the pass with a company by the name of Jeff Valent Studios. This one ended badly and all I will say is I would tell you to think AT LEAST twice if you would think about using him. But this time I decided to go more professional and I have been in contact with Reaper Miniatures. I have spoken to them several times about all the stuff you need to know if you plan to do minis and I think this looks like a possibility. The only real issue is the start up cost. Once you get the minis sculpted and the master and product models made minis are very cheap, but all the front end stuff is the thing that holds you back. Well I am seeing what I can do to make this happen. Who knows this might happen befroe you know it. Talk to you later...

The First Ones ... The Sobeka

I while back I showed you a picture of this reptile looking guy that just happened to show up on the NeoExodus Starter Kit. With me working on the Races of the First Ones I though it migh be fun to give you a little more on that front. This race of the First Ones is called the Sobeka. They are a Monsterous Humanoid race that have the focus of being the [CLASSIFIED] [CLASSIFIED] of the First One. The Sobeka's releationship with the [CLASSIFIED], [CLASSIFIED], and [CLASSIFIED] and the other First Ones has place them in a very interesting position within the world of Exodus. There abilities of [CLASSIFIED] and [CLASSIFIED] make them great [CLASSIFIED] for your games. But most intersting of all their are TWO VERY DIFFERNET TYPES of Sobeka: the Kroca and the Kobura. Now you have to figure out, which one was in the image. Talk to you later.

Can't Sleep...Again

Once again I really can't sleep. Lots of ideas in my mind that will not let me sleep. I don't really sleep that much any way (normally 5 hours) and if I had a choice, I wouldn't sleep. Lee Hammock and I both agreed once that we could be so more productive if we didn't sleep. I teach told me when I was in high school, if you sleep 8 hours a day for 60 years, you would have slept for 20 years. If you sleep 6 hours a day for 60 years, you've slept 15 years. You have 5 years worth of time you could be doing something other than sleeping. 5 years is LONG time to be asleep. I will sleep when I am dead. Talk to you later.

Hardcover or Softcover? Why Not Both!

I have some VERY good news to all you NeoExodus Fans out there. When I first planned to do the campaign setting for NeoExodus, I was planning to do it only in softcover for retail gaming stores. It was a little to expensive to do a full run of hard cover books. But my printer just informed me that we can do a typical softcover edition as we planned, AND we can do a limited run Hardcover edition!!!

That is right! There are going to be TWO VERSIONS of the Campaign setting. Now I have decided that I am only going to sell the limited HARDCOVER version directly from my website. I since I don't know the actual page count of the HARDCOVER book (I have estimated the Campaign setting book to be 128 pages but with this change. I might be going up to 200+ pages), but I am doing everything I can do to keep the HARDCOVER version to be under $30 and the Softcover versions to only $20 in the retail gaming stores. Even though the PDF versions of the Campaign Setting is going to be released next week (HOPEFULLY!) We will not releasing the Softcover & Hardcover version until the summer of 2007. Just in time for Gen Con and Origins. Talk to you later...

My Weekend Extravaganza!

Well this was truly a GEEK weekend. A very good friend of mine, Tate Ottati, owner Tate's Comics had their 14th Annual Half Off Sale. Tate has two sales a year, this one and the Halloween Sale both are ALWAYS great deals for good stuff. How goo are the deals, well all old comics were 50% off in the store (6,000 sq. feet of store) and outside in the large tent (Think HUGE!) you could get back issues 5 for a $1 OR fill a long box for $35! Now when I went I only planned to spend $20, BUT when I started getting my comic outside together I decided it made more sense to get the long box. So now I have roughly 300 more comic book to go thru and get some great ideas to work with. Comic books, my breeding ground for great ideas. Talk to you later...
