Coming Soon: Imperial Janissary

Here is something we are working on and hoping to get out by the weekend. Enjoy

Sometimes, when a rebellion or an enemy incursion or a supernatural threat menaces the security of a province, the Imperial Alliance sends a division of soldiers.Sometimes, it sends a single Janissary.

The Janissary is a member of the Imperial Alliance’s most elite martial brotherhood a psionic warrior and investigator without peer. Many problems resolve themselves as soon as he announces his presence; the Janissary has arrived and the game is up. He is well equipped to deal with the few recalcitrant villains who attempt to hide or fight him, however. Malcontents fear the Janissary’s power more than any other foe’s, for few indeed can hide their thoughts from him and fewer still can stand against him once he roots out their offenses. The Janissary’s reputation among the citizenry is somewhat more mixed. While his efforts to keep the peace are greatly admired, his psionic abilities unnerve those he is tasked with protecting.

Bring on the BAD GUYS!

For the last few months, we have been working on the “good guys” for the setting of NeoExodus. I have gone out of my way to make sure all the writers understand the kind of setting I am looking to build. This has made it possible for for us to create a very unique and very interesting prestige classes and races for players. I am glad I got all the right people working on the NeoExodus project. Now while all the writers have been working like madmen on fun stuff for you all, I have been working on something that has been absent from all our current releases. I have been working on the BAD GUYS!

That is right, the BAD GUYS! Not the bad guys, but the BAD GUYS! I mean the type of BAD GUYS that send players, running fear. I don’t mean when you see a dragon, I mean the fear when you see a mind flayers for the first time extract the brain of the toughest character in the party, killing them outright. Or the first time you realized you were in a beholder’s antimagic cone. That kind of fear. The fear that you think your character might die in this encounter. Well the BAD GUYS I have been working on are just like that. All of them terrible and terrorizing in their own special way. Right now all you know about so far are the First Ones and really how much do you know about them? (Here is a hint, there are 4 “groups” of First Ones that will be appearing in the upcoming adventures from us, so stay tuned). All you need to know is that I am going into the deep dark areas of my mind to create the First Ones and that is where I am staying to get the members of the Folding Circle. What is or who are the Folding Circle, I guess you have to wait and see. Talk to you later…

"Accidently Sliped Out": The First Ones...

As we are working on the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting (FOR SALE) and World of NeoExodus (FOR FREE) books I thought it might be best to little a little of the "cool stuff" for the setting "accidentally slip out" to you fans. OK here goes:

The First Ones:
Roughly over 5,000 years ago, before the first empires existed on Exodus and even before Kaga existed, the First Ones ruled over Exodus. For nearly a millennia, the First Ones had forced their will against the lands of Exodus and ruled it with an iron hand. The First Ones rules were the law of the land and none dared oppose it. The First One debauchery knew no bounds as they dined the humanoid flesh of those they enslaved and drank their blood to quench their thirst. There we no limits to what they would do. And none that could oppose them until he came...

More to come. Talk to you later...

Who is the Lawgiver?

Who the Lawgiver is not know, but he has proven himself to be a powerful potential ally or enemy with the upcoming changes and events in the world of Exodus. His he been seen all over Exodus from dry and sandy outback areas of Cordel to frozen lands of the Caneus Empire in Nas. But the most interesting thing about this person they call the lawgiver is many have noticed that his is cover in several tribal marking that he calls the Lazarus Brands. These symbols seem to have some type of importance to what is doing Exodus and these brands symbols have been appearing randomly on several individuals who have been seen performing incredible feats of power and magic. What these marking are and what their connection to the Lawgiver is not known, but all those wanting to acquire power in this new era of Exodus agree, these Lazarus Brands and events are linked to each other.

Now I have told you alot and nothing all at the same time. Talk to you later...

The Artwork of NeoExodus: What I a looking for

Artistically, when I started working on NeoExodus, I wanted to try something visually different for a fantasy game. I looked at NeoExodus in the same way the guys who did "The Matrix" looked at doing that movie. Those guys made a list of ideas and concepts that they had seen a million times in movies and then made a list of things they always wanted to see in a movie. Then taking a leap of faith, they did all the cool things they wanted to see, and did not do all the boring stuff. Went it came to NeoExodus, I did the same thing.

First off, I REFUSED to do the same type of artwork you always see in fantasy games; that painted classic looking fantasy style. Everyone has done this style over and over again. I wanted to avoid that with the plague. I wanted to do a something that was a cross between modern day comic book artists like Jim Lee, George Perez, Paul Pelletier, Jim Cheung, the guys from Udon and Wildstorm and influence of Japanese Manga and Anime television shows and movies like Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bepob. With all those cool kinds of inspiration are you surprised that it looks they way it does? Talk to you later.

What CrossGen & Highlander have to do with NeoExodus

When I first started working on NeoExodus: A House Divided I was looking of ways to add very cool things that I like from such things as CrossGen Comics and the Highlander movies and television series. With those two companies I came up with the idea of the Lazarus Brand. Now the initial concept of the Lazarus Brand is similar to to WOTC'S Eberron Campaign Setting with their Dragonmarks but I wanted to take that idea in a different direction. I like the concept in Highlander that these guys have to fight and kill eachother to gain their quickening. The more quickening you gained, the more powerful you became. Also I liked the idea that immortals could sense each other (No need to worry about cutting the head off some non-immortal). So those elements I tied into the Lazarus Brands. When two Lazarus Branded individual fight and one wins over another, then the winner takes the loser brand and gain more power. Simple right? Well kinda of...
With my interested in CrossGen and their ideas of Sigils and Ligis concept I thought this is a great way to handle adding unusual power to characters. So I "stole" (Amateur writers copy, professional steal) that idea and tied it into two charcater I have planning on using in EVERY COMIC BOOK AND SCI-FI I have ever created: the Lawgiver and the Painted Man. Both of these characters are related tothe Lazarud Brands and both have their specific views on what they Brands should be used for (Think Vorlons and Shadows from Babylon 5. See I told you professional steal). So with all this, The Lazarus Brands were born. Now what are the Lazarus Brands and what do they do. Well that is for another time. Talk to you later...

Slow Day...

Today has been a slow day due to the fact I have been dealing with another personal issue. But I did complet the layout on the book shelf version of my D20 fantasy sourcebook, The Works of Shakespeare. This is a collection on my D20 Shakespeare series I did a while back. I looks like this book is going to be 52 page in length. I just need to get the cover together then off to print. Also I finished my character sheets for use with Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved book series. I am hoping to have then out by next week sometime. I am also waiting for the Covenant Purifier PrC for NeoExodus to come in from Owen. Then I have to assign the art work for this. I might go to the beach to get motivated. Talk to you later.

NeoExodus Forum now up!

OK I just open up the forum for NeoExodus: A house Divided. So if you want to help spread the word, here is the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NeoExodus-RPG. Talk to you later...

You want to know about NeoExodus? Look here...

I got this over at the forum at EN World and I wanted to share it with you...

I'm a little confused as to what NeoExodus is all about. As far as I can tell a number of races, prestige classes etc. have been released, but I've no idea what the setting is all about. Is there a main setting book coming or are you releasing everything peacemeal?
Thanks!
Pinotage

My Answer:

OK there are several answers to this but first off let me say, THERE IS A MAIN SETTING BOOK FOR NEOEXODUS: A HOUSE DIVIDED COMING OUT SOON!!!! As what I have done with several other setting that we make we are going to release a For Free Version of the setting (This will contain all of the fluff material for the setting) and we will release a For Pay version of the campaign setting (This will have everything that is in the free version, plus with all the crunchy bits like ALL NEW NEVER SEEN BEFORE classes, feats, spells, monsters and etc). Both of these versions will be in PDF format.

What we are also doing is putting the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting IN PRINT AVAILABLE AT YOUR FLGS!!!! So you can get this setting any way you want, PDF or Bookshelf version, it is all up to you.

What the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting is about is best described as a "Fantasy Punk" setting. The official Core Ethos Sentence of the setting is: NeoExodus is a world of fantasy punk where the heroes use their swords, covert and political actions along with magic to perform deeds that earn them fame and notoriety and even possible save the world. NeoExodus has several different "reasons" and "events" that are jumping on points for PCs including:

1) Imagine a world a woman kills her own older sister and then frames her own older bother for the crime just so she can become ruler of an empire. How could you bring her to justice and what might she do to you to stop you?

2) Imagine a world where the largest organized religion and an empire with the 2nd largest military force join forces to spread their idea and beliefs over the entire world, by any means necessary. What do you think would happen to you if you didn’t believe as they do and how could you stop them?

3) Imagine a world where a deadly plague has infected an area with a highly deadly and highly intelligent quicksilver liquid looking creature that takes over the bodies of those it infects, feeds off of them, staying hidden, and only strikes out when it has been discovered or to get more food. How do you stop something you can see until it is also too late?

4) Imagine a world where the total and complete information, secrets and arcane knowledge of the world for the last 5,000 years is in one secret location where anyone can get access to this information as easy as just by asking for it. What do you think certain individuals would do to keep and control that information and knowledge for themselves?

And these are just SOME of the interesting ideas and set-up for NeoExodus: A House Divided. As I have stated before, NeoExodus is unlike any other fantasy setting you have ever seen, so keep checking out the stuff and the products we release. We have some big plans for NeoExodus.

Wasting time when I should be working...

Look at this:

You scored as Neo, the "One". Neo is the computer hacker-turned-Messiah of the Matrix. He leads a small group of human rebels against the technology that controls them. Neo doubts his ability to lead but doesn't want to disappoint his friends. His goal is for a world where all men know the Truth and are free from the bonds of the Matrix.

Magic of NeoExodus: Ready to go!

Well another one in my mountain of products this month is being released tomorrow. This one is an important one in the sense this is going to set the mood and feeling of magic in the setting. While I am finishing this one up, I also got the Dominion Wyrdcaster in from Owen. I think this is going to be a very popular one for spell casters. It has a lot of little interesting tricks. I plan to release it Monday the 12th. Talk to you later.

14 Days, 10 Products...

I have been looking over my production schedule for the next two weeek and I noticed (Well it is hard to miss) that I have 10 products to go out over that same time. 10 Completed products. I have once again ramped up my production schedule to help build the company while at the same time I am getting ready to go back into the arena of actual book publishing. This is the dangerous part of any good business, Controlled Growth. For the company to succeed and grow at the right rate I need in have a 10 to 15% monthly increase and growth. Now this is very possible to do, but I have to keep it controlled so I can make sure this growth does not burn out too soon. Plus I need to also keep my focus on keeping myself sane while all this is going on. This is what business is really about. Talk to you later...

Another company falls...

I have just been informed that Necromancer Games has just anounced that they are closing their doors. It always amazes me where I hear about something like this from a company that was connected to a larger company (White Wolf) for so long. I don't understand if you have keys to the kingdom how you don't succeed. With That high level of "success" and fans who "loved their products" why didn't they make it.? Who knows. All I see is all the customers who used to by Necromancer Games product are now looking for somewhere else to spend that money. And of course I say, why should it be me?

Moving back to the Retail Store arena...

I have finally decided to go back into the reail store market by using a 3rd party. Now, the last time I did this I "barely" escaped the Osseum fiasco (Ask Green Ronin about that!). That was a bad event and it turned me off about getting products into the retail stores. But now, with the advent of Print on Demand POD, I finally have decided to return the retail store. I am going to start off with some small products, and build up from their. I also plan to release my NeoExodus products in this way. Product should start arriving by this Summer. Talk to you later...
